Columbite
stock #7FE-190
Golconda Pegmatite district, Governador Valadares, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
4.8 X 2.3 CM (small cabinet/large miniature)
price: $450

A single blocky well terminated crystal with very good lustre. Good sharp Columbites are not common and since its a very brittle mineral there is often lots of damage. With the high prices of Columbium, few good crystals survive now. This is from a find in the 90's Far better than average, very sharp with the termination complete and undamaged. There are a few natural cavities and pits on some faces, undamaged except at the base area where it was removed.
Tourmaline (Elbaite)
stock #8 DK-162
Barra de Salinas Mining District, Coronel Murta,
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5.9 x 4.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $750
Holiday Surprises

A big, fat multi colored parrelel growth Elbaite crystal with distinct zoning. Good color -this would cut some large and fine cats eye gems, this is also fluorescent and has two distinct color zones. This has been photographed for an upcoming article on Fl. Tourmaline. Real nice luster and undamaged except at the attachment point . A good value for a large and unusual Elbaite.

Rose Quartz
stock #8-DK-080
Pitorra Claim, Laranjeiras, Galileia, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5 x 4.1 CM (miniature)
price: $280
Esthetics! Nov. 2009

Rose quartz crystalized in a cluster with micro sprays of Eosphorite. Nice color and arrangement. Rose Quartz in crystals is only known from a few places and is very rare in general.
Spessartine Garnet (Floater with complex crystal form)
stock #8DK-031
Navegadora Mine, Penha do Norte, Conseheiro Pena, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5.6 x 4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $380
Esthetics! Nov. 2009

From the famous find of more than 20 years ago, this is a very good example of deep blood-red Spessartine. It is fully crystallized on all sides ("floater") and shows incredible geometric growth steps of several types. This one is as close to perfect as I have seen, some areas of chipping can be found with magnification but not easilly seen by naked eye. Very good value!
Elbaite Tourmaline (deep green cats eye form)
stock #8 DK-142
Golconda Pegmatite district, Governador Valadares, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5.6 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $800
Esthetics! Nov. 2009

A striking, large cat's eye crystal with a distinctive termination. Excellent condition overall, the fibrous base section grades to a glassy prismatic form. Backlighting reveals the green gemmy transition zone in the top section. This would cut a large and fine cat's eye gem but it would be a shame to destroy such a well formed crystal. Great eyecatching form, it is not just typical elbaite! A fine addition to a gem crystal suite.
Beryl v. Aquamarine- etched and recrystalized gem floater
stock #8DK-047
Itatiaia Mine, Itatiaia District, Conseheiro Pena, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
11.4 x 7.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $2600
Esthetics! Nov. 2009

A fine "ice sculpture" type of Aquamarine from the finds of the mid 70's. This is a fully crystalized piece with no damage and no attachment points. Superb deep color and all fine gem grade aqua, this glows in any lighting and is impressive. This example has a mix of complex geometric and curved faces that give the surfaces hundreds of facets that reflect light and shimmer. Far more rare than typical prismatic crystals, the best of these are like modern art sculptures of blue ice. This is a very good one that displays well from any angle.
Fluorapatite on Elbaite (tourmaline) with Bertrandite
stock #9.1-167
Golconda Pegmatite district, Governador Valadares, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
5.8 X .8 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $475
Esthetics! Nov. 2009

A very fine and super esthetic piece! The apatite is doubly terminated, pristine with a light purple color, perched on deep green elbaite. The tourmaline is terminated and undamaged except at the base where it was removed. Otherwise perfect all arround, this is an excellent value in a pretty pegmatite piece.
