Serandite - large blocky habit crystal
stock #23.1-152
Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire
Quebec, Canada
5.1 x 4.2 x 3,1 CM (cabinet)
price: $1150
Spring 23

A fine modern classic from the great Mont St. Hilaire of Quebec, Canada. A fat, bright orange Serandite crystal with no matrix from the world's best locality for this amazing specie. This is sharply terminated on the top, however the lower end is contacted and rough. Despite that roughness some termination is there as well, but not complete. The crystal also show some good transparency and translucency on the outer edges. As most collectors now know, many so called Serandites have recently been proven not to be Serandite at all but are the mineral Schizolite. This is a confirmed Serandite, and the recent research that many Serandites are wrongly labeled has made this previously uncommon mineral even more rare. This is a choice example. Most faces of this crystal are very sharp and fairly lustrous, it is far larger and better formed than most. There are some faces with stepped growth on the backside but overall the crystal is very distinct and prismatic.

Analcime on Natrolite etc.
stock #17.1-455
Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire
Quebec, Canada
5.8 x 4.7 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $320
Fall 22

A classic from the famed Mont Saint-Hilaire which is perhaps the world's most important Alkaline Pegmatite. This locality has so many outstanding and unusual combinations of minerals. This specimen features a 3.4 CM diameter Analcime crystal that is sharp, glassy and complete. This rests on several other minerals perhaps the most prominent are Natrolites some of which have pseudomorphed after an earlier mineral. A nice example of Saint-Hilaire Alkalai minerals.

Serandite on Albite
stock #AX-27-095
Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire
Quebec, Canada
2.5 x 1.9 x 1.2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $90
new year 2021

A thumbnail specimen with perfect, lustrous Serandite crystals scattered on a Albite matrix. These are true Serandites and not Schiziolite which was for many years confused and mislabeled. Excellent color, translucent to slightly transparent and in fine condition, these Serandites are tiny but choice from the classic Poudrette Quarry at Mt. St.-Hilaire.

Rhodochrosite with Polylithonite, Aegerine etc
stock #17.1-660
Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire
Quebec, Canada
2.7 x 2.6 x 1.2 CM (thumbnail)
price: $475

A neat variation of classic form from Mt St Hillaire, the flattened triangular Rhodochrosite Rhomb with some extra faces. This specimen here also has several tiny "normal" Rhodo rhombs. Lots of micro crystals on some faces and edges, including Polylithonite. In perfect condition by naked eye, only at 30X magnification are some rough spots found as is a secondary coating in a few spots. Displays well from most any angle, this is good looking on either side. An attractive large thumbnail.

Serandite with Analcime, Aegirine
stock #17.1-280
Poudrette Quarry, Mont Saint-Hilaire
Quebec, Canada
3.2 x 2.1 x 3.1 CM (thumbnail)
price: $190
new june 17

An esthetic cluster of well formed leaf-like pink Serandite with contrasting white Analcime crystals. A classic association from Mt St Hillaire, the only locale where sizable, fine crystals were found. Minor black Aegirine is also noted. A lot of visual impact for a small specimen. In excellent condition.
