The Pingtouling mine in Guangdong China was for a short period the source of incredible Mimetites with world-class color and luster. The mine soon flooded and collapsed, there will never be more from here. This is a very good example of the color, habit and gemmy nature of the Mimetites. A modern classic and highly regarded by collectors as a very distinctive and special find.

From the early finds at Pingtouling which were famous for bright yellow Mimetites, this is a deeper orange hue. The mine was flooded and collapsed more than 20 years ago, but the size and quality of these lustrous crystals helped them to become modern classics. This thumb-like matrix is covered by fine crystals on all sides, and the condition is excellent. The crystals all have a wet-look luster. These have become scarce and this color is even more uncommon.
Quartz with Hematite

Red Quartz crystals are clustered with bladed Hematite in an esthetic presentation. This piece has 6 terminated free standing prisms, all with some orange to red color. From the display side there is no visible damage, however, on the back some damage can be seen. The Quartz has very good transparency and the terminations are clean and sharp. This find was big news in the mineral world about 15 years ago, but no new material has come out for quite a while. We have handled quite a lot of the Quartz from Lechang and it is rare to find any without considerable damage; this is much better than typical.

A chantoyant "velvet" Malachite from the Shuli Mine, ex Shields and Frances Flynn collection. The Shuli Mine has on occasion produced some incredible Malachites that are rather like the best material from the Congo yet discernably different. Most good pieces tend to be large blocks, plates or masses, smaller cabinet specimens are quite uncommon. This is a perfectly complete undamaged early piece that is not huge and has the classic look of a fine Shuli Malachite.

Worldwide mix summer
Superb top quality specimen from the great finds at Pingtouling over a decade ago. Top color and bright glassy luster, the condition is remarkable. We have handled a lot of these Mimetites and just a few really stand out, this is one of the best with display impact far bigger than its size. The color is the most desirable orange-yellow. Crystals are up to 1.5 CM which is huge for the find. The Pingtouling mine flooded and collapsed years ago but the Mimetites it produced in a very short period are regarded as some of the best yet found on the planet. Excellent value.

A well formed cluster of undamaged Mimetite crystals on matrix from the famed finds in 2003-4 at Pingtouling. Since the mine collapsed some years ago these specimen have become highly desirable and much appreciated. This is a choice and undamaged toenail or small miniature with excellent orange yellow color and perfect form. A modern classic.

From the now classic finds over a decade ago, this is a bright yellow mass of Mimetite crystals on a solid Gossan matrix. An early piece(vintage 2002)that is not like most of the Pingtouling Mimetites, the crystals are more elongated and some are tapered. In fine condition there are crystals on all sides of the matrix but the side shown is by far the best display face. A choice piece from a closed locale, no longer available.
An excellent, highly esthetic, sharp and lustrous specimen from the first great find of Helvite in China. The Leichang Mine produced several good to great Helvites in the 2002-3 era; later examples tended to be dull and small in size. This fine example with super sharp crystals to 2.2 CM was sold by Carter Rich in 2003 to George Loud who later sold it back to Carter, it went then to the William Hladysz collection. Old labels and collection cards are included with the piece. Overall in good condition despite the obvious delicate nature of the slender Quartz. Some broken Quartz crystal can be see at some angles and micro chips are on a few edges of the Helvite. Not distracting from display impact this is a very good value for an impressive specimen. Not for an ultra picky perfectionist, and not 5-7K!
