Fluorite in Quartz
stock #8.AE 893
Miandrivazo Dept. Menabe region, Tulear
8.3 x 2.3 x 1.7 CM (cabinet)
A sharp Quartz prism hosting many small crystals of purple/blue Fluorite from the find about 12 years ago. Now quite rare but when these were available most were much smaller, damaged and had some faces lapped or ground to show the inclusions. This is fully natural, in good condition and quite large. The Fluorite inclusions are easily seen and the surfaces are nicely etched with geometric patterns visible with magnification.
Fluorite with Schorl on Microcline
Erongo mountain, Usakos and Omaruru districts
4.8 x 3.8 x 1.3 CM (miniature)
A simple esthetic arrangement of Schorl and Fluorite on a plate of tiny Microcline crystals. Nice color contrast, excellent condition and an affordable cute display miniature.
Grossular with minor natrolite
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
3.4 x 3.3 x 2.2 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
A good specimen of a type that is becoming hard to find and often very expensive. This has a nice presentation overall but has damage to some smaller crystals and with magnification more chipping is seen, so it is not for perfectionists. Good value for color, luster and contrast with the light matrix. Shows good isolation of the Garnets too. Far less expensive than an ultra perfect specimen but in normal display looks just as nice.
Silver - Fine native crystals in
stock #Alec 19-161
New Nevada Mine, Cerro San Antonio, Batopilas
6.2 x 3.7 x 2.2 CM (cabinet)
An extraordinary fine small cabinet specimen with exceptional form from Batopilas. For esthetics and delicacy of crystals, there is no other location like the Batopilas area of Mexico. This piece is very far above average and is in perfect condition. Individual leafy crystals over 3.3 CM tall show many sharp, fine treelike side growths in many habits. Far better in person and offering lots of display impact this is a choice modern classic.
Small but intense rich purple Vesuvianite with magenta and dark green areas. The color is deeper and more intense than the computer monitor can render well. The luster is glass like and the specimen clearly has two generations of growth. Some of the smaller crystals show hoppered terminations. The "matrix" is a blocky crystal of Vesuvianite that shows signs of being recrystallized as well. This is the most uncommon color found at Jeffrey and essentially unknown from any other locale.
Sapo Mine, Goiabeira
6.3 x 3.8 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
Bi-colored and very lustrous Apatites are clustered in a stacked grouping that is a perfect floater (crystallized all around). No damage and displayable from any angle, this 2010 vintage Sapo mine piece is similar in form to some Alpine cleft type specimens. Sapo has produced many interesting and attractive habits and colors over the years, this is quite distinctive and more impressive in person.
SOLD Papagoite in Quartz
stock #SOLD 16.1-302
Messina Mine, Messina District
4.7 x 3.6 x 2.7 CM (miniature)
A sharp and attractive example of this scarce old find of Papagoite included quartz. The main 3.4 CM tall crystal is in excellent condition and the overall form is quite esthetic. We have not had an example with this quality for many years, they are just not often available, and fine examples are very scarce.
The Daoping area finds of Plumbogummite have been extraordinary, by far the best quality ever seen. this specimen is an esthetic treelike cluster of former Pyros which are sizable and well formed. The replacement with a powder blue to yellow green Plumbogummite seems to be complete. In excellent condition, a choice piece of a modern classic find.
