Pyromorphite
stock #18.1-697
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
5.1 x 4 x 3.1 CXM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $2850

A perfect, killer miniature. Top intense color, brilliant luster and elegant form in an undamaged specimen. Even though many of these were found since the first finds in 2000, very few were this well formed and esthetic. This specimen comes from a small recent pocket, that gave the first Pyromorphites of any quality in more than 4 years. These are modern classics and the best Daoping Pyros like this one are quite prized as they stand out from the average pieces. This presents well on every side and angle, the crystals show several habits but are mostly elongated freestanding hexagons some with central hoppers. The smaller, slender crystals are a little less bright green and are also perfect in radiating clusters. Minimal matrix, a perfect large miniature with a display impact much larger than this size. It is incredible this is so perfect and undamaged, even better in person.

Smoky Quartz on Microcline (Amazonite)
stock #18.1-611
Government Pit, Albany, Carrol County
New Hampshire, United States
4.7 x 3.8 x 3 CM (miniature)
price: $240

A neat miniature hosting a fine Dauphine twin Quartz that has gem clear transparency. A New England classic, these are often compared with the well-known Colorado specimens but are quite different in person. the matrix is well crystallized Amazonite, with the blue green color most desirable from New Hampshire. Ex Ernie Schlichter collection, this was collected by him in the heyday of the Government pit digging. The luster is excellent and glassy on the Quartz and a pleasant matte finish on the Feldspars making a nice contrast. These are from an old stash and are not at all common on the market

Fluorite - new find
stock #18.1-523
Fluorite Quarry, Jebel tighemi, Taourirt, Taourirt province,
l Oriental Region, Morocco
5.1 x 4.6 x 3.3 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $550

A very fine, ultra clear and sharp pair of Fluorite cubes on matrix from the new find of Moroccan Fluorites. This find has produced a lot of larger, somewhat crude cubes, most being opaque to translucent only. Very few have come out with this perfection and transparency. No damage and displayable from almost any angle, the Fluorites are well exposed and just barly connected to the matrix being perched on small pedestals of crystallized matrix. The Fluorite itself does look a bit like a fine Llamas Quarry piece but is also differnt on close exam. Some faces show a slight frosting that under magnification shows a beautiful recrystallized texture with a melted look. The matrix is easily seen right through the Fluorite.

Calcite- gemmy, twinned
stock #15.1-513
Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County
Tennessee, United States
5.4 x 5 x 2.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $360

Ultra clear, a pair of transparent crystals of twinned Scalenohedral Calcite from the great Elmwood mine. The faces are glassy and the termination tips show a slight hint of a cognac color otherwise these are perfectly colorless. The twinning is both a rotational and interpenetrated type, which is very easy to see in person. Just a hint of matrix is present, mostly on the backside of one crystal. The condition is fine and the terminations are uncleaved, A contact on the back, lower edge is noted but no damage. Now that the Elmwood is closed probably forever, good, clean Calcites of the quality are becoming quite uncommon and prized.

Prehnite -well crystalized
stock #18.1-587
Merelani, Umba Valley, Lelatama Mountains, Arusha Region
Manyara Region, Tanzania
5.7 x 3.9 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $300

Radiating cluster of fine terminated Prehnite crystals from the famed Merelani Hills best known for its Tanzanite. In fine condition by naked eye, some very minor bruising is seen with magnification, but overall the visual impression is pristine. This is also a color-changing Prehnite and can look green to a gray-blue depending on the light source. Some of the crystals also show slight rotation or twisting like some of the classic European Alpine specimens.
