Anglesite in Sulphur
stock #AX-9-051
Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos
Chihuahua, Mexico
5.6 x 3.2 x 2.2 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $90

An oddity, from Los Lamentos, the locality world famed for superb Wulfenites, this is a different association. The mine contained a large amount of Sulfate minerals along with the Lead secondary species and some Native Sulphur. This Sulphur mass has both massive and micro crystal areas and is the matrix enclosing several Anglesite crystals about 1 CM in size. Not often seen for sale, this piece dates from the 1970's.

Copper -superb spinel twins
stock #14.1-407
Central Mine, Keweenaw Co.
Michigan, United States
7.4 x 4.1 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $1200

Simply fantastic, a very well crystallized Copper with sculptural form much like a tree or cactus. The most prominent twin crystal at the top is 3.1 CM tall and the whole is very esthetic. From the Central mine of Michigan, this classic site produced many excellent spinel twins in its working life. This is well above the quality of "typical" pieces which are now uncommon. A fine USA classic copper that would be desirable from anyplace, a super example of the fames Upper Peninsula copper country. The piece displays great from almost any angle.

Chalcedony / Amethyst
stock #20.1-277
Mamuju area, Sulawesi Barat province
Sulawesi Island, Indonesia
3 x 2.2 x 1.7 CM ()
price: $120

Highly esthetic and in fine condition from the incredible find at Mamuju, Sulawesi (Indonesia). This important discovery yielded some large and impressive pieces, but very fine thumbnails like this were much less common. This is a colorful and high impact small piece that is an elegant sculpture. From one of the best modern mineral discoveries.

Chalcedony/ Amethyst
stock #20.1-278
Mamuju area, Sulawesi Barat province
Sulawesi Island, Indonesia
3.3 x 2.4 x 2 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $90

Esthetic and withy nice form from the incredible find at Mamuju, Sulawesi (Indonesia). The less common green balls mixed with purples makes a nice contrast. This important discovery yielded some large and impressive pieces, but good thumbnails like this were much less common. This is a colorful and high impact small piece that is an elegant sculpture. From one of the best modern mineral discoveries.

Barite with Fluorite (US classic)
stock #0307-JM-1632
Cave-in-Rock, Hardin County
Illinois, United States
7.9 x 5.8 x 3.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $1150

An outstanding classic that is rarely seen on the market. Sheaves of fine blue Barite crystals in radiating habit on a contrasting Calcite matrix. Fluorites are noted on the edge and backside, but the main impact is from the Barite. Ex John Marshall collection, this has the rare strong blue color, most Barites were a cream white to gray hue. In very good condition as seen, the piece is very three dimensional with top color and form. A fine addition to any good suite of southern Illinois minerals, US classics or Barites.

Topaz- gem clear crystal on matrix
stock #20.1-271
Sakangyi-Kyauk-Pyat-That, Mogok, Pyin-Oo-Lwin,
Mandalay Division, Myanmar (Burma)
4.3 x 3 x 2.1 CM (miniature)
price: $380

Water clear Topaz with perfect form perched on a jagged pegmatite matrix. From the Sakangyi Mine which produced much fine Topaz at one time, this locality has been idle for a few years but is likely not fully exhausted. Very glassy luster, a few faces show extra modifications but overall a classic textbook crystal form. Quite a lot of Sakangyi Topaz had frosted faces and distinct striations, but some smaller crystals like this have faces with no visible striations but have a few termination faces showing a bubbly texture. All in all a pretty prism. No damage.

HOLD Axinite - Gemmy crystals
stock #HOLD 20.111
New Melones Spillway (Dam site), Calaveras County
California, United States
3.8 x 2.3 x 2.3 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $300

A very glassy cluster of transparent Axinite crystals from the collection of Brett Keller (Mineral wines). The new Melones Spillway of Calaveras county had a small but exceptional find in the 1970's. The Axinite (Ferro-Axinite) are considered to be among the best ever found in the USA. This piece is A choice small miniature that could perhaps be trimmed to thumbnail size. It has choice color, luster and transparency. No damage seen by naked eye but with a good loupe a few micro rough bits can be found. This is in far better condition than most, very close to full perfect.

Native Silver (Sheet form)
stock #15.1-457
Eisleben, Mansfeld Basin
Saxony- Anhalt, Germany
7.6 x 2.6 x 1.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $120

One of the more odd forms of Silver are these thin sheets, almost like a Silver foil found in narrow seams of Slate. Very old material, these were mostly extracted in the early 1900's, the locality is a German classic. The Slate matrix is Copper bearing which is an unusual host for Silver anyplace. The Silver leaf is partly peeling from the matrix and shows the delicate form, being under .05MM thick.
