Rhodonite crystals (classic locale and habit)
stock #12.1-314
Franklin Mine, Franklin Mining District, Sussex County
New Jersey, United States
5.7 x 4.7 x 2.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $475

A well composed, classic Rhodonite specimen from the great Franklin New Jersey that has fine form and color. This cluster has some well terminated crystals up to 3.3 cm long and is above average. Collected over 50 years ago, this has the classic form of blocky, red-pink, somewhat crude crystals with minor calcite associated. At one time these were found in any good USA collection, but they are now quite scarce in any quality.
Fluorite (alternating color faces, internal bubbles)
stock #Alec 29-035
Huanggang Mine, Chifeng Prefecture
Inner Mongolia Region, China
4.4 x 3.2 x 2.6 CM (miniature)
price: $2600

A killer miniature with a perfect 3 CM fluorite (complete all around) neatly perched on calcite matrix. Great architecture and esthetics, but what sets this apart is the faces have alternating colors! The slightly frosted deep blue faces offset from the glass clear faces that have a white to lilac-purple color. The interior is seen clearly through the unfrosted windows and is almost colorless. Looking closer the inside is loaded with bubbles, the larger ones are frozen inside negative crystals but some very tiny bubbles move slowly in their oil filled cavities. There are also complete internal cubes and partial cubes to be seen with magnification. Absolutely fascinating, attractive and even better in person. Even after seeing thousands of Huangang specimens this one is a significant standout.
Mimetite with Wulfenite
stock #13.1-136
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.4 x 2.8 x 2.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $350

Mina Oujela has been working for centuries and still has surprising finds every so often. Last year the bright Mimetites were big news, many as good as the best San Pedro pieces and with great form. Most were very damaged but some were of much better quality than the mine run. This piece is quite good, has the desirable "wet" luster, bright yellow color and a delicate form. There is also a scattering of wulfenite blades. It is not damage free but in far better condition than 99.9 percent (edges have some chipping, some tiny bruises that are not easy to see), so its not for a perfectionist. Otherwise this displays great, has killer form, great color and is far more affordable than usual for this quality.
Calcite on Sphalerite w. minor Chalcopyrite
stock #Alec 27-125
Borieva Mine, Madan, Rhodope Mts.
Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
5 x 5 x 2.3 CM (miniature)
price: $260

Exceptional bright luster and contrast on this esthetic specimen from the Madan area. The condition is excellent, this is clearly not a typical piece and displays very well. Black Sphalerite is not normally an eycatching mineral, this one is mirror bright and well composed, the calcite add a fine contrast.
Calcite crystals on Celestite spray
stock #14.1-406
Clay Center, Ottawa County
Ohio, United States
5.4 x 2.6 x 1.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $350

A particularly esthetic specimen of curved-face rhomohedral Calcite crystals neatly perched on a spray of Celestite. From a great, classic US locality this has an impressive and fine form. The calcites are undamaged, ex. Doug Ervin collection.
Malachite- Stalactititic "cauliflower"
stock # Alec 24-096
Luishia Mine, Katanga Province
, Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
5.3 x 4 x 1.5 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $385

Unusual form, attractive and elegant small cabinet specimen of Malachite from the Congo. Malachite is a rather common mineral and often not given very much respect since it is so abundant. It takes a very good specimen to get noticed. The copper belt of the Congo has yielded some of the most beautiful Malachites of all time. The best show a wetlook luster, are chantoyant chantoyance, have rich color and attractive form. This has all that and is in excellent condition.
Rhodochrosite (New find, Crystalline Botryoidal form)
stock #A 29-026
N'Chwanning II Mine, Kalahari Manganese Filed
Northern Cape Province, South Africa
3.7 x 2.3 x 2.4 CM (miniature)
price: $850

From a new, exciting small find of bright Rhodochrosite from the famed N'Chwanning Mine. This locale is world famed for the great finds made over 20 years ago. Good pieces from the old pockets are now some of the most expensive mineral specimens on the planet. The new zone was very small, it had a similar look (but with some differences) to some earlier finds. The color is a deep pink-red that can be almost electric under some lighting. This is a fine example with distinctive, sharp spheres of bright, sparkling Rhodo. Very good display quality that looks great from several angles.
Barite on Quartz
stock #ALEC-19-264
Jinkouhe town, Ebian
Sichuan, China
7.7 x 5.2 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $500
pre Tucson 2015 update

A delicate mineral sculpture with very sharp form. This presents outstanding form and arrangement that is unusually eyecatching for a colorless specimen! Older (about 2004) Chinese specimen with gemmy Barites some of which have white phantoms. The condition is pristine and that is quite amazing given the delicacy of this piece.
