SOLD Albite on Muscovite
stock #SOLD 8.1-438
Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Pref.
Sichuan, China
5.9 x 5.1 CM (miniature)
price: $0

From Xuebaoding this is rather unusual. We all expect fine Sheelites cassiterites etc but Albite is usually only seen in small, nondescript crystals. This is a very fine Albite for the area. Great to complete a locality suite with a good, sharp, undamaged and esthetic piece. The crystals are gemmy at the terminations too.
Chondrodite on calcite
stock #8-BUR 883
Mogok, Pyin-oo-Lwin District
Mandalay division, Burma (Myanmar)
6.5 x 6.6 CM (miniature)
price: $300

A single orange brown Chondrodite crystal of over 2 CM sits on contrasting Calcite. The matrix also has a few micro spinels scattered on it but the Chodrodite is the main event. A very sizable and undamaged example with the typical melted look for this region. These have not been available for some time, and this piece is one of the best I have seen for Chondrodite from Mogok.
Chrome Tremolite
stock #8BURE 881
Mogok, Pyin-oo-Lwin District
Mandalay division, Burma (Myanmar)
5.9 x 3.6 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $200

A single sizable (3 CM) crystal of rich green Chrome tremolite sits on a calcite matrix. The crystal form is impressively sharp for one of such size, this is not the typical "blob" of tremolite! Great color and gemmy on thin edges, these are not common in general and rare in such aesthetic specimen.
Sphalerite with Quartz
stock #8.1-439
Krushev Dol Mine
Madan, Bulgaria
10.4 x 7.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $425

As a rule, black Sphalerite is not a very desirable mineral, but this one is something special! Lusterous and sharp glassy Sphalerites to almost 3 CM are decorated with treelike growths of slender quartz crystals. In great condition and with killer esthetics, the Sphalerites are well positioned and show complex growth hillocks on many faces. Careful examination finds only minor edge wear on some sphalerites, nothing distracting from the impact of this piece. Great for this specie and exceptional for this famous mineral region!
Sphalerite with Chalcopyrite
stock #7-TRI-578
Tri State District, Ottawa County
Oklahoma, United States
15 x 9.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $700

A very old and very fine Tri-state classic! Ex collection of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, This is a true top shelf specimen. Sphalerites here reach to 4 CM and are exceptionally well formed. The smaller crystals are a fine ruby red (rubyjack) while the larger ones are darker and coated with chalcopyrites. Some faces are noticably irridescent and over all the luster is outstanding. The only damage is at the outer edges where it would be expected, the display face is pristine, three dimensional and very esthetic. The old Tri-state area produced a lot of materials in its time, but this quality was excellent even in its heyday.
Galena (spinel law twins) with Chalcopyrite
stock #8.1-440
Dal'ngorsk
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
7.8 x 6.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $400

An exceptional Spinel galena from the John Marshall Collection. Textbook perfect clusters of Spinel twins reaching 4 CM are esthetically placed on a complex matrix of fine quality Chalcopyrites and minor quartz, sphalerite etc. One large Chalcopyrite (2.4 CM) is also a textbook perfect crystal and is perched at one end of the specimen. There is a lot of Galena from Dalngorsk but fine spinel twins from there have become quite rare (they were never common in top quality). This one has both excellent condition and esthetics.
Chalcopyrite (large elongated crystal)
stock #8.1-442
Krushev Dol Mine, Madan, Rhodope Mts.
Madan, Bulgaria
6.2 x 4.4 x 2.7 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $330

A single, big, elongated chalcopyrite crystal showing fine striations and luster. Most faces are perfect and shiny, but there is slight chipping on a few edges, not significant given the size of the crystal. Although Chalcopyrite is a common mineral, crystals that are complete of this size are rare. Madan has produced a few superb examples.
Galena on Sphalerite
stock #8.1-443
Krushev Dol Mine, Madan, Rhodope Mts.
Madan, Bulgaria
8.4 x 6.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $250

A sizable (4.4 CM) galena sits in a sea of lusterous Sphalerites. Clean and esthetic, the Galena has some hoppered areas and elaborate growth phase lines. Nice contrast and no damage on the display side.
