Titanite with Adularia, Byssolite, Apatite etc.
stock #15.1-1054-(SM2740)
Grischun (Grisons)
Graubunden, Switzerland
10.5 x 6.5 x 3.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $600
Winter 2016-17

An old Swiss classic Alpine specimen. Complexly structured matrix hosts several minerals in layers with gemmy green Titanites on the top. Beds of Bysollite needles have well crystallized Adularia protruding and micro sprays of Apatite throughout. This displays the complex nature of mineralization in Alpine clefts very well. The Titanites crystals are up to 1 CM though most are smaller. Ex Charles M. Noll and Jim Dufoe collections.
Wulfenite on Mimetite
stock #15.1-970-(SM4923)
Ahumada Mine, Los Lamentos
Chihuahua, Mexico
9.8 x 7 x 4 CM (cabinet)
price: $590
Winter 2016-17

A very fine, attractive Bipyrimidal Wulfenite from Los Lamentos. This famed mine is best known for the tabular habit Wulfenites, but rarely this pointed habit was found, often on a dark green druze of tiny Mimetite crystals. Similar but noticably different from bipyrimidal Wulfs from Mina Ojuella. This specimen is esthetic, large, very colorful and in fine condition. A choice older Mexican classic Wulfenite.
Cassiterite with Arsenopyrite and Muscovite -unusual locale
stock #Alec-12-135
Yaogangxian Tungsten Mine, Yizhang County
Hunan, China
3.6 x 3.5 x 2 CM (miniature)
price: $100
Winter 2016-17

A rare example of a Yaoganxian Cassiterite that is well crystallized. One of the most prolific mineral mines on Earth, Yaoganxian has produced many fine specimens of many species, but almost no Cassiterite. This small specimen is the best example we have seen. There are a few small Arsenopyrite crystals as well and this has some well defined twins. Compared with the world class Cassiterites from the famed Pingwu and Ximeng mines this is a modest piece, but for a Yaoganxian suite this is a killer.
Adularia - Classic alpine Manebach twin w. iridescence
stock #15.1-933-(SM2772)
St Gotthard, Central St. Gotthard Massif, Leventina
Ticino, Switzerland
8.3 x 5.1 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $385
Winter 2016-17

A large and fine old Swiss Orthoclase crystal that is a well formed Manebach twin with fine edge striations. Several older labels included date this back to the 19th century. This Adularia is very large, translucent to transparent and with textbook perfect form. From just the right angle the fine striations make an interesting display of diffraction colors and shows a rich iridescence. Classic and impressive.
Beryl V. Aquamarine with Quartz and Schorl
stock #16.1-321
Erongo mountain, Usakos and Omaruru districts
Erongo region, Namibia
5.2 x 5 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $360
Winter 2016-17

Nicely composed specimen presenting a sharp 4.2 CM Aquamarine. No damage, the Aqua has a almost colorless gem clear tip and a deep blue lower section. A small shiny Schorl crystal is protruding from the Beryl. The Erongo area still produces many specimens so the prices of these pieces tend to be relatively lower than from other locales. This one is much better than typical material, in perfect condition, a good value.
SOLD Spessartine on Orthoclase crystals
stock #SOLD 16.1-178
Tongbei, Yunxiao County, Zhangzhou Prefecture
Fujian, China
6.8 x 4.4 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $0
Winter 2016-17

A perfect cluster of Orthoclase crystals are fully encased by bright orange Spessartine crystals. Striking and an excellent specimen from the famed Tongbei finds. The original shape of the Orthoclase is seen clearly but made far more attractive by the gem my garnets that cover all the faces. In perfect condition and far above average quality. As this area begins to shut down such fine pieces will be even more treasured.
Inesite with Quartz, Hubetite etc.
stock #16.1-174
Fengjiashan Mine (Daye Copper Mine), Edong District, Daye County, Huangs
Hubei, China
7.2 x 7 x 5.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
Winter 2016-17

A fine Chinese Inesite from the Daye mine (Fenguashian Mine). Great esthetic with a very delicate, perfect standing spray of Inesite on top of a matrix of smaller Inesite, Quartz and Hubeite crystals. Excellent form and color, this has the richest red-orange hue that is most desirable. Not much has been found in recent years and little of that has good form or color. An impressive specimen for the mineral and for the locale.
Dioptase (well crystallized for type locality)
stock #15.1-945- (SM1939)
Altyn-Tyube, Kirghiz Steppes
Karagandy Province, Kazakhstan
6.8 x 4.5 x 4.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $690
Winter 2016-17

A bright, striking Dioptase with sizable, perfect emerald green crystals on a etched matrix. From Altyn-Tyube, this is of exceptional quality for that location, and in fact is a choice specimen from anyplace else too. Sharp perfect crystals to 1.3 CM long are clustered in a sizable mass, a few micro tufts of Malachite are also note. Most Altyn-Tyube pieces have much less visual impact.
