Fluorite
stock #17.1-882
Xiayang, Yongchun County, Quanzhou Prefecture
Fujian, China
5.1 x 4 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $550
Pre Holiday 2017

An incredible example from a new find of inky blue Fluorites which has been making big mineral news. Sharp, lustrous and gem clear cluster of modified cubes that some are calling "Tanzanite color Fluorite" which is a controversial name. This also shows a pronounced color change in some lighting from deep royal purple to this rich blue that is quite unique. We have examined many of these and selected the very best in terms of color, clarity, condition and esthetics. This is far better than average, very minimal damage with contacts at outer edges and back with the main display face clean and pristine. It seems this find is fairly large but very few pieces are anything close to this quality and the prices can be very high. From Fujian Province, the earliest specimens from this find had some misleading location data. The locality we are listing has been confirmed as correct for this specimen but there may be other spots nearby as well. A choice, attractive specimen and a very good value.
Catapleiite and Aegirine
stock #17.1-AX16-497
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
7.4 x 2.8 x 2.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $2400
Pre Holiday 2017

A fine sculptural cluster of big (over 2.5 CM) Catapleiite crystals in rosettes are well placed on contrasting Aegirine crystals. Mont St Hillaire Catapleiites are considered the best ever found, although the Lovozero find was also world class, these had a sharp glasslike form unequaled. This is one of the most desirable St Hillaire species, and this is a far above average quality specimen. Well composed with several rosettes, all well formed and lustrous. A modern classic, these are very hard to get in this larger size and sharp quality. These are now almost never available like this.
Diopside with Grossular, intense green
stock #15.1-459
Orford Nickel Mine, Brompton Lake, Sherbrooke
Quebec, Canada
6 x 5.8 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $780
Pre Holiday 2017

Bright green Diopside with emerald green micro Grossular in an esthetic cluster from the famed Orford Mines. The Orford Nickle mines produced some excellent Diopside crystals but mostly grey or pale green in color. These very bright green crystals were often called "Chromian" for the color, but now are considered to be colored by Nickle instead. No matter the source these are an especially rich green and this specimen has many well formed, sharp and esthetic prisms to 1.5 CM tall. Very attractive and quite rare.
Topaz on Amazonite single crystal
stock #17.1-534
Hohenstein Massif, Omaruru District
Erongo region, Namibia
6.8 x 6 x 4.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $525
Pre Holiday 2017

A big, blocky Microcline (Amazonite) crystal with several faces sprinkled with clear Topaz Crystals. A fine Erongo specimen that comes from the hard labors of the small miners on Hohenstien. The Topaz are up to 8MM in sizesharp, gemmy and most are colorless. The back of the specimen is contacted but the front and sides are in excellent undamaged condition and displays well. The green color of the Amazonite is not very often seen from this area, it makes a fine setting for the clusters of Topaz.
Hemimorphite- Radiating blue crystals
stock #17.1-AX-11-036
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.1 x 5.9 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $850

A starburst of glassy Hemimorphite crystals with the extra attraction of being a nice pale blue color. From 2015 finds in Mina Ojuela, this is an especially fine and esthetic specimen. Some of the best Hemimorphite ever found comes from this locale, but very little ever had this most desirable blue color. The individual prisms are up to 1.1 CM long and have a bright glassy luster. Choice and very rarely available in this quality.
Apatite on Muscovite
stock #17.1-841
Chumar Bakhoor, Hunza Valley
Gilgit, Northern Areas, Pakistan
5.5 x 4.5 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $680

A prism of pink Apatite (Fluorapatite or Apatite-CaF)is nestled in a Muscovite matrix. The crystal is 2.1 CM across and has distinctive modifications of the edges of the termination. From the earlier finds of Apatite at Chumar Bakhoor, this is in excellent condition. Esthetic contrast with the matrix, the Apatite looks fine from all angles.

Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos
Quebec, Canada
3.2 x 1.1 x 1.0 CM (miniature)
price: $890
Pre Holiday 2017

The Vesuvianites that came out of the Jeffrey Mine are the most colorful and desirable in the world. This crystal has a two tone green color, gem clear areas and a sharp, perfect termination. Close examination shows what may be parallel growth or complex twinning. Overall a fine condition, undamaged prism with excellent color and bright luster. Found in 2002.
