Red Beryl (bixbite) on matrix
stock #7AED-129
Violet Claims, Wah Wah Mountains, Beaver County
Utah, United States
4.7 x 2.8 x 2 CM (miniature)
price: $950
Fall 2015

A single intense red Beryl crystal protruding from contrasting matrix. In fine condition and more gemmy than usual this has excellent luster as well. In recent years these have been marketed as "red emeralds" but most are quite milky, opaque or have less strong color. Good examples are much more rare than similar sized Emeralds. This is a very good specimen from 1990 vintage finds, and a very good value at this price.
Fluorite on Sphalerite
stock #15.1-885
Elmwood Mine, Carthage
Tennessee, United States
5.9 x 4 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $220
Fall 2015

Deep purple cubes with zoning and fine luster sit on shining Sphalerite crystals. Simple and classic, Elmwood specimens are still sporadically available and relatively inexpensive compared to every other Fluorite locale. The Fluorites here are sharp, translucent to transparent with complex face modifications in cubic steps. Contacted on the back but perfect from the front view. The Sphalerites have good luster, translucency and deep red to black hue.
Weloganite (huge crystal) with sphalerite, quartz etc in matrix.
stock #15.1-884
Francon Quarry - Montreal
Quebec, Canada
8 x 5.8 x 4.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $8500
Fall 2015

A killer, world class and huge Weloganite, one of the largest crystals found, with exceptional display esthetics. The crystal is 4.8 CM tall. For what it is worth, this is the best cabinet matrix specimen that I have ever seen, and I prefer it to the well known published single crystals. In very good condition, the matrix is sawn on the back and base, not seen on display side. Tiny doubly terminated quartz and what seems to be Sphalerite micros with some bright golden Marcasite are noted in the vug where this grew. A few small quartz also are on the right side of the crystal just below the termination and add a little extra sparkle. Fine creamy yellow color and good luster give the Weloganite contrast from the matrix. It is very rare that we offer specimens of such stature on our website, we usually sell this quality at major shows or in private sales. This is an experiment to explore the possibility of presenting more top quality or rare specimens in this way.
Amethyst
stock #Alec 2-055
Piedras Parado, Las Vigas
Veracruz, Mexico
8.8 x 4.6 x 5.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $420
Fall 2015

Gem clear, sharp zoned Amethyst crystals in a cluster on a thin matrix sits well for display. A modern classic locale, this is an older specimen of 1970's vintage with a little different look than later finds. Excellent deep purple tips and in fine condition. Veracruz Amethysts are some of the most attractive yet affordable Quartz on the market today. Choice.
Kesterite with Mushingtonite on Quartz, Muscovite
stock #Alec-15-057
Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Pref.
Sichuan, China
12.2 x 8.1 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $900
Fall 2015

Esthetic and well formed Kesterites with Mushingtonite coatings in several habits are well perched on the matrix. In perfect, textbook condition this is a very fine example of this rare mineral. Before the discoveries at Xuebaoding, Kesterite was a very rare and unattractive mineral. The finds in 2002 and 2005 changed that forever. There has not been any new production for Kesterites since and the area that produced them is now a protected zone. Now scarce on the market especially in amy quality, this one is an exceptional, quality specimen that will appreciate well. Ex Sheilds Flynn collection via Bert Ottens.
Fluorite and Calcite (selective overgrowths)
stock #9.1-093
Rosiclare level, Minerva Mine, Cave-in-Rock, Hardin County
Illinois, United States
7.9 x 6.8 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
Fall 2015

Choice, colorful purple and yellow zoned Fluorite crystals epitaxialy coated on some edges by gemmy scalenohedral Calcites. 1970's vintage specimen ex. Ernie Schichter, this is quite showy and in very good condition. Better in person, these are usually quite a bit more expensive in this quality.
Fluorite on Celestite, (Gemmy crystals)
stock #15.1-868
Tule Mine, Melchor Muzaquiz
Coahuila, Mexico
4.8 x 4.1 x 2.9 CM (miniature)
price: $90
Fall 2015

An exciting new find at a classic old mine, gem clear Fluorites in delicate purple contrast with the bright white Celestite crystals. The Tule mine was famed for large Celestite with blocky Fluorites that were usually dark and not clear. This find is different, the crystals are smaller but glass clear and highly lustrous. Affordable yet attractive, undamaged and choice miniature.
Chalcotrichite with Copper
stock #15.1-883
Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts., Cochise Co.
Arizona, United States
4.3 x 4.2 x2.4 CM (miniature)
price: $90
Fall 2015

Old Bisbee specimen has three vugs with Cuprite V. Chalcotrichite crystals with typical bright red color. Ex. Rocksmith specimen, there are a few tiny bits of Native copper and some calcite crystals that seem to have copper inclusions too. Classic material, this small piece is relatively affordable for one of these.
