Pyromorphite - Classic Locale, ex Frank Wright Collection
stock #14.1-067
Wheatley Mines, Pheonixville
Pennsylvania, United States
5 x 3.5 x 1.6 CM (miniature)
price: $325
pre Tucson 2015 update

An olive green crystal plate from this venerable old locale that is densely covered with free standing crystals. The condition is overall excellent but with magnification some very small damage can be found, mostly at the edges where this was removed. The Pyromorphites themselves show several habits including hoppered and tapered terminations. This specimen is a little lighter in hue than is most Pheonixville specimens, but it has the classic luster that is distinctive.
Amethyst -zoned crystals
stock #13.1-129
Amatitlan, Municipio de Zumpango del Rio
Guerrero, Mexico
4.1 x 2.1 1.9 CM (miniature)
price: $285
pre Tucson 2015 update

An attractive miniature showing the distinctive habit of Guerrero Amethyst. This shows both the classic esthetic arrangement and shape of crystals with the zoning that sets these apart from all other Amethyst. In good condition, there is some chipping to be found with magnification so this is not for the perfectionist. Far better than average and much more affordable than larger pieces. Vintage about 1955.
Fluorite (phantom cube)
stock #13.1-125
Huangshaping, Chenzoh prefecture
Hunan, China
6 x 5.1 x 2.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $320
pre Tucson 2015 update

A sharp phantom cube of transparent Fluorite perched on the edge of a thin matrix plate. From the find of 2002 at the little known location of Huangshaping. This is a very fine, clean specimen that displays well. This small mine is located close to the much larger famed Hsinghuapu locale but the look and quality are completely different. Very good value.
Wulfenite on calcite (classic locale)
stock #Alec 29-062
Red Cloud Mine, Silver District, Trigo Mts, La Paz County
Arizona, United States
5.1 x 3.3 x 2.9 CM (miniature)
price: $750
pre Tucson 2015 update

A bright, sharp and well formed Red Cloud Wulfenite with intense color. The main crystal is in excellent condition even with 10x magnification. Overall in fine shape however there are some chips on a few much smaller crystals that are not easy to see. The matrix is mostly crystallized calcite on fluorite, an unusual association for this venerable locale. The brilliant color and fine 3-D form on this piece sets it apart from the average.
Plumbogummite with Pyromorphite
stock #14.1-444
Daoping Lead-Zinc Mine, Yangshao
Guangxi, China
5.5 x 3.4x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $475
pre Tucson 2015 update

China recently produced a spectacular find of Plumbogummite that is by far the most attractive of this usually drab mineral. The best pieces are a replacement of Pyromorphite crystals with a blue green hue. This piece is a delicate jackstraw collection of slender crystals forming a nest. This is almost pure Plumbogummite with a little Cerussite but on some broken crystals that show unaltered Pyromorphite cores. Very fine form for this rare mineral and quite esthetic.
Sphalerite with Dolomite, Galena
stock #Alec-18-034
Huaron Mines, Huaron Mining District, San jose de Huayllay District
Pasco Department, Peru
5.9 x 5.5 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $380
pre Tucson 2015 update

Dark orange Sphalerite in well formed crystals perched on a contrasting Dolomite in an esthetic arrangement. This comes from a small find in the late 70's at Huaron that was unique. The crystals are translucent and glow with backlighting, but in normal light this still displays very well as seen here. A good example of this old find that is very rare on the market.
Fluorite- Zoned crystals on Quartz
stock #Alec 19-279
Redstone Quarry, Conway, Carroll County
New Hampshire, United States
8.1 x 7.4 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $1150
pre Tucson 2015 update

A classic old find from the White Mountains of New Hampshire, these rare "pocket" Fluorites are by far the most esthetic of these we have seen. 1960's vintage, this specimen is well formed and has exceptional 3 dimensional presentation. The Fluorites reach 3.5 CM across and have fine and classic zoning with frosted faces that makes this locality distinctive. Aside from the famed Wise mine in southwestern New Hampshire this defunct quarry is the next best New England Fluorite locale and this is perhaps the best example.
Villiaumite with Hackmanite
stock #14.1-448
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
7.7 x 3.3 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $190
pre Tucson 2015 update

Villiaumite is one of the more colorful yet rare minerals found at Mt St Hillaire and a handful of other Alkalai complexes. This is a very nice and very bright red example. These cubes are good sized (about 1 CM) rare for for bright red crystals, larger crystals have been found here but they are brownish. The matrix has many other alkali minerals included in it as is typical from this locale. Sadly now the quarry is closed there will be no more of these.
