The discovery of these incredible Chalcopyrite balls at Tonglushan (China) in 2018 made big waves in the mineral world. For a while it was rumored these were altered or faked but as they were well studied and examined they have become accepted as fully natural. There is a little resemblance to some old ball specimens of Chalcopyrite from both Bristol, Connecticut and Cornwall, England but these are far more perfect, complete and have a nice patina as well. The find was a one off, no new examples have been found since. This specimen of 5 connected balls shows well the habit and form, is in perfect condition and looks great from any angle. The large ball is 2.3 CM across. A super addition to any Sulphide suite, Chinese collection or to a display that has strange and wonderful minerals!
