Galena- Classic location
stock #12.1-298
Neudorf, Harzgerode, Harz
Saxony- Anhalt,
Germany
5.1 x3.6 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $480
Tucson group
Perhaps the most classic locale for Galena is the very old mines of Neudorf in the Harz Mts. This is a distinctive and well formed example from the dedicated German collection of Ernie Schlichter. The display side is in perfect condition, undamaged the luster is not mirror bright but it is good, dark and attractive. There is no matrix, only the intergrown Galena that present some of the typical forms that make Neudorf so distinctive. A great classic and more affordable than any example I know of.

An older (2001 vintage rather unusual form of fluorite from a location that was once prolific. We see almost nothing now from Xinghauling and this small find had unique esthetics. Excellent condition and color, displays well from every side, with bright luster.
Smithsonite with Mimetite
stock #Alec 11-049
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region,
Namibia
5.4 x 4.3 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $1600
Tucson group
A fine, showy Tsumeb piece that has real character! Ex Edward Zimmelman collection, acquired in 1982, this is a nicely composed cluster of stacked, flattened rhombs of smithsonite that are in places dusted with a few white dolomite crystals. The main attraction is of course the profusion of Mimetite crystals, up to 1.1 CM long, a delicate orange yellow color. These are selectively coated in turn by tiny glass clear calcites so it really sparkles. The display face is in exceptional, undamaged condition, the rear is also displayable but close exam (20X magnification) shows some chipping. With magnification it is also possible to see that some of the terminations of the Mimetite are not coated by the calcite and are a deep red-orange color. Overall strong esthetics and in fine condition for such delicate species.

6.2 x 2.2 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)

Sharp, pretty and impressive! This specimen has it all, form, color and bright glass like luster - a great example of why collectors love Brandburgs! The bright sparkling green ball of Prehnite adds great contrast to the purple phantom. This is a Goboboseb specimen, in extraordinary condition and far better in person.
Brucite (well xl'd, classic American location)
stock #12.1- 133
Wood's Mine (Woods Chrome Mine) Lee's Mills (Texas)
Pennsylvania,
United States
5.6 x 3.9 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $385
Tucson group
A well crystallized example of this rare, delicate classic from the original Woods Chrome mine location in Pennsylvania. These are hard to find in any condition and this example is especially fine. The individual crystals are almost 2 centimeters in size, many showing sharp hexagonal form. This specimen was part of an old library collection supplied by Pennypacker well over 100 years ago. The recent Minerological record article describes this find in great detail. Some minor scuffing can be seen in the photos but for such an old, delicate piece the condition is exceptional! The color is a pearly white with a hint of green tinge that shows better from some angles.

Azurite (Brilliant elecric color and luster)
stock #ALEC- 3-025
Milpillas Mine, Cuitaca, Municipio de Santa Cruz
Sonora,
Mexico
6x 4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $2000
It may be difficult to really see this piece in photos, but it is an exceptional, bright top luster Azurite from Milpillas. Very difficult to photograph such bright faces so this is FAR better in person. These Azurites are modern classics and those with the sought after "electric blue" are so intense they are real world class display pieces. Display well from each side, individual crystals reach 3 CM and present complex, sculptural forms. This specimen was obtained as part of a large lot in late 2011. These are from the last mining, they will be regarded as great values in the future!
