Galena in oriented, stacked cubes and cubo-octahedral arrangements are decorated with bright Chalcopyrite. An excellent example of the epitaxial structures from this important find of 2008-9. No damage. We strongly feel these will be ranked with some of the great classics in future years, they are esthetic, unique and currently very affordable.
Pingtouling Mine, Liannan, Sanjiang
5.3 x 4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
An excellent, clean and well crystallized Mimetite from the world class finds of 2003 at Pingtouling. Many collectors now consider this small find to have produced the world most attractive Mimetite, and as the mine is flooded and collapsed there will be no more. These are already classics with prices climbing and few good ones available. This a nice piece and the color is rich (a little more orange-yellow than is seen on some computers). In very good condition there is no eye visible damage on the display area. It is nearly pure mimetite, and heavy. This has been carefully stabilized so there is no worry of crumbling matrix.
Pyrite and quartz (dodecahedral)
stock #8 -PUR-819
Huanzala Mine, Huallanca district
Dos de Mayo Province, Huanuco Department,
6 x 4.6 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
Even with all the nice pyrites that Peru has produced, really good clean perfect examples are not common. This is simply that, a cluster of perfect dodecahedrons with a little quartz that has brilliant luster and nice silky striations on some faces. For the size I can not imagine a more nicely balanced and cute pyrite. An example of an affordable, esthetic and undamaged mineral specimen.
Orpiment (with calcite)
Shimen (Jiepiayu) Mine
5.4 x 3.2 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
The best Orpiments have glassy luster, rich color, sharp gemmy crystals and are visually attractive. This Chinese Orpiment is like that, with a few small calcites added for contrast. The main crystals are perfect, well terminated and the color ranges from yellow to deep red-orange. Not all fine minerals are expensive!
SOLD Gwindel Quartz (fine gemmy)
stock #SOLD 8DK-103
Giuv Valley, Tujetsch, Vorderrhein
6.4 x 5.1 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
A very clear, well defined and simply fine Gwindel. Classic form from one of the great alpine quartz regions, this is in excellent condition with a very smooth curve or twist. These are always highly valued when good and this one is exceptional. The base attachment area and a tiny spot on lower backside are the only imperfections and both are invisible from any normal display angle. This is far more clear and gemmy than
99 % of gwindels I have seen,
A very nice example of an alpine classic from Switzerland. Extremely esthetic piece hosting a lovely rosette cluster of platy, irridesent hematite 3.2 CM across perfectly situated, The Hematite crystals sit on a 5.3 doubly terminated, gemmy, clear quartz crystal. No damage at all on the Hematite or the main Quartz, with close examination only a minor contact is found on a tiny quartz xl that is not noticable. The composition for this is exceptional.
A great specimen of an European classic. Shows stout strontianite xls up to 1.5 CM long by 1 CM thick on a matrix of Magnesite xls. Specimens are very rarely seen in the marketplace from this location.

One of the rare classics from Tsumeb! The world's best specimens of this rare lead iron arsenate come from Tsumeb. This fine Specimen shows brown rhombic xls. up to 2 MM. in size liberally covering the iron oxide-quartz matrix.
