Adamite and Calcite
stock #8 MEX 631
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango,
Mexico
9.4 x 4.4 (cabinet)
price: $250
Unusual and attractive esthetics! A well crystalized Adamite cluster rises from a matrix of gossan that holds a sparkling calcite vug. Good contrast and overall appeal, the color of the Adamite is a rich lemon-green. Some unidentified micro crystals are on the reverse side are a bonus.
A very pretty miniature with sharp, translucent octahedral Scheelites perched estheically. Far better than most Yaoganxian Scheelite, there is no eye visible damage on the display area. With 10X magnification some micro edge chipping can be found on one crystal. Mined in 2003, and already a classic!
Spinel (large twinned crystal)
stock #8 DK-155
Luc Yen
Yen Bai Province,
Vietnam
5.1 x 4.2 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $680
Sharp. lusterous and with deep purple-red color, this is a fine Spinel with strong form. Gemmy with glass-like surfaces, the transparency is above average for such a large crystal. The faces alternate from a melted or rounded form to sharp prismatic. The crystal shows well "spinel twinning" and is exceptionally sharp for its size. No damage, displays well.
Elbaite Tourmaline (deep green cats eye form)
stock #8 DK-142
Golconda Pegmatite district, Governador Valadares, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais,
Brazil
5.6 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $800
A striking, large cat's eye crystal with a distinctive termination. Excellent condition overall, the fibrous base section grades to a glassy prismatic form. Backlighting reveals the green gemmy transition zone in the top section. This would cut a large and fine cat's eye gem but it would be a shame to destroy such a well formed crystal. Great eyecatching form, it is not just typical elbaite! A fine addition to a gem crystal suite.
Brilliant, deep emerald green Dioptase sparkles on a contrasting multicolored matrix. There are several different micro crystals covering the specimen. A very pretty yet affordable miniature from this classic locale. No damage, fantastic color.
Cuprite and Copper
stock #9.1-030
Bisbee, warren District, Mule Mts., Cochise Co.
Arizona,
United States
6.6 x 4 CM (cabinet)
price: $650
A beautiful, scuptural specimen of well developed Cuprite decorating branching native copper. The Cuprite has excellent fresh red color and shows both single octahedra and flattened elongated octahedra in chains to over 2.5 CM. Individual crystals show bright glassy faces and the whole has a super esthetic form. Bisbee Cuprites are rarely this attractive.
SOLD Cerrusite, Barite and Galena
stock #SOLD 7FE 275
Mibladen, Midelt, Khenifra Province, Meknes-Tafilald
,
Morocco
6.2 x 4.4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $0
Bright, glassy Cerrusites are very well presented with contrasting orange Barite. The Mibladen area has produced lots of Cerrusites, but few are this pretty. Overall in fine condition with top luster. Future classics this is a good and reasonably priced example.
A fine, bright and glassy Apatite CaF sits esthetically in a nest of Muscovite. From the high elevation locality of Xuebaoding best known for great Scheelites, these are now very hard to find in such good condition. The main crystal is over 2 CM across (this is large for the locality) and has excellent pink-violet color. Strongly fluorescent and gemmy, a very attractive example.
