Elbaite (sceptered, color change, dichroic)
stock #8 DK-182
Barra De Salinas Mining District, Coronel Murta, Jequitinhonha Valley
Minas Gerais,
Brazil
5.5 x 1.8 CM (23.8 Grams) (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $1950
An old, fine, super clear gem crystal with a wonderful termination. The specimen changes color DRAMATICALLY with different light sources and is intensely dichroic. Color will vary from olive green, brownish, pale grey-blue, light rose and purpleish! Typical of fine pieces from Barra De Salinas, this shows complex striations and multiple faces on the termination. Undamaged and very unusual, this is unlike anything from Brazil in the recent past, it dates from pre 1980 mining, likely much older than that.
A rare old style Cruziero crystal with exceptional clarity and intense color. Sharp and undamaged with glass like luster, this pre 1980 vintage example is unlike any current tourmalines. In some photos what appears to be chipping is actually internal veils all the faces are perfect on this piece! A fine addition for any gem crystal suite.

Cruzeiro Mine, Sao Jose de Safira
Minas Gerais,
Brazil
5.8 x 2.1 CM (39.7 Grams) (cabinet)
price: $2200
From old (pre 1980) finds at the Cruzeiro mine, this is a very fine undamaged gem crystal with great color and glass like luster. From a small suite of old gem rough stock that survived the cutters wheel, this is a fine specimen that is unlike any modern material found in Brazil (or anyplace else)!
