Cuprite -Large complex crystal on Malachite
stock #0739-JM-1693
Dikuluwe Mine, Kolwezi
Shaba, Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire)
7 x 6.6 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $880
Spring update

A large, somewhat crude red Cuprite octahedron (3.5 CM) with some unusual growth features and complex faces sets nicely on Malachite matrix. Two of the faces have odd holes (one circular, one triangular) and several parts of the crystal show stepped regrowths. Great color contrast, with backlighting the Cuprite glows a brilliant cherry red. We have not backlit the specimen as that can be misleading, but the cuprite is fully translucent and seems to be facet grade clear red inside. Ex John Marshall collection (his label and card are included) acquired in 1990 from G. Gauthier.

Semseyite- large crystals with Sphalerite, Sphaerosiderite etc
stock #AX-18-197
Herja Mine, Chiuzbala , Baia Mare
Maramures, Romania
9.1 x 7.8 x 4.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $500
Spring update

Very well formed, large (to 4 CM across) rosettes of sharp and lustrous Semseyite in undamaged condition. The matrix is a mix of lustrous black Sphalerites and Sphaerosiderite balls colored by Boulangerite. A few Chalcopyrites sprinkled in add a little extra color. These are the biggest undamaged osettes we have handled, the overall esthetics is very strong and fine for the specie.

Hydroxylherderite - large, fine crystal
stock #16.1-463-(CN3010)
Linopolis, Divino das Laranjeiras, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
8.3 x 6.4 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1500
Spring update

A superb large euhedral crystal (7.8 CM tall) dominates a cluster of smaller crystals. Sharp, complete all around and undamaged, this is an incredible example from the famous Linopolis find thirty years ago. Micro crystals of some unidentified Phosphates are also scattered on the specimen and add a little sparkle. Ex Charles Noll collection, the original label call this Herderite as these wwere known then, now understood to be Hydroxlherderite. Most faces show a glassy luster and are transparent in parts. The color of Hydroxylherderite from here can vary widely, this one is mostly light violet-purple but with some zones of greenish, grey and orange. Display well from all sides and the main crystal is textbook quality. These only appear now from old collections like this.

Silver with Calcite
stock #A7-186-(1241)
Batopilas, Andres del Rio District
Chihuahua, Mexico
4 x 3.1 x 2.1 CM (miniature)
price: $350
Spring update

A very delicate cluster of wires, herringbone crystals and tiny spinel twins of native Silver. From the now classic locale of Batopilas, this has several small bits of adhering Calcite much like ornaments on tree branches. Due to the fragility of this piece it is best to make a by hand delivery or we will ship in soap powder, insured. Ex Larry White collection.

Grossular (pink) w. Diopside
stock #AX-16-576
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
4.9 x 2.5 x 1.5 CM (miniature)
price: $950
Spring update

One of the rarest colors of Grossular from Jeffrey is pink, and especially desirable is on a contrasting green Diopside. Far above average size for the main crystal at 1.2 CM and gemmy. Sharp edges and bright luster make this especially attractive. There are some contacts and chips mostly on smaller crystals but these are not easily seen. This also keeps the cost far below the usual level for a Jeffrey pink. This could be trimmed to a very fine thumbnail if desired.

Adamite- gemmy crystals on gossan
stock #18.1-139
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
7.8 x 5.8 x 4.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
Spring update

A pretty and unusual Adamite from 1960 vintage finds at Mina Ojuela. There are two generations of well crystallized Adamite on matrix, the first is a light green to lemon yellow chisel-tipped type, the second is colorless to white. Bright and vividly sparkling in person, the luster and quality are impressive. More recent specimens have a very different look. Very strong fluorescence as well, this has far better esthetics than typical Mexican Adamite.

Fluorite - gem-clear tabular habit
stock #18.1-140
Cantera Llamas, Duyos, Caravia
Asturias, Spain
3.7 x 2.7 x 1.6 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $290
Spring update

A super toenail sized Fluorite with a very fine flattened cube form and top clarity. From the small but important Llamas Quarry in Northern Spain, this is in pristine condition. The matrix is a mass of small crystals of Fluorite all showing the elongations and beveled edges that are classic for this area. Choice.
