SOLDTourmaline (elbaite watermelon)
stock #SOLD 8DK-130
Santa Rosa Mine, Itambacuri
Minas Gerais,
4.7 x 1 CM (miniature)
price: $0

A really sweet gem crystal! Glassy, gemmy, sharp, complete, transparent thoroughout and with great color the photos say it well. The bottom section of the crystal has some adhering matrix and contacts, otherwise it is fully undamaged. Some internal veils may look like damage in photos but they are only visible due the clarity of the crystal, the sides are pristine. A very attractive, clean specimen!
Rhodochrosite Stalactite
stock #8 DK-090
Capillitas Mine, Andagala
Catamarca, Argentina
7.4 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $400

A fine example of a crystalline Stalactite of Rhodochrosite with great form. The main stal is 7+ cm long, with a slight bend to it, complete, terminated and with no damage. A second broken section of stal is attached. The section reveals the concentric pink color these are famous for. The main stal is about 2 CM thick and is composed of stacked lath crystals. The color is excellent from deep red-pink to orangey pink. One edge of the stal has a contrasting grey overcoating that appars to be calcite. All in all a very esthetic specimen, hard to find in this size and quality.
SOLD Quartz -Alpine smoky
stock #8DK-017
Gilgit, Gilgit district
Northern Areas, Pakistan
21 x 4 CM (cabinet /museum)
price: $0

Huge and gemmy! This is simply a spectacular large and fine quartz. Overall very clean and lusterous, very slight frosting on a few faces otherwise it has killer glassy sides. The termination is a staged termination and tapers in 2 stages. This is quite close to perfect, however there is a micro chip on the "back side "of the tip, and with magnification a few other chips can be found. However on this large crystal these really are of no real significance. This is a top class and very impressive Alpine style smoky that could pass as a Swiss or French crystal (and be priced FAR higher too!) A real classy rock at a very reasonable price for such a piece!
SOLD Spinel (ruby) compound octahedral crystals
stock #SOLD 8 AE-695
Pein Pyit (Painpyit), Mogok, Sagaing district
Mandalay division, Burma (Myanmar)
4.8 x 4 CM (miniature)
price: $0

Brilliant red, large and sharp for this locale, A very fine gem crystal with excellent form and floater with no signs of contact or damage. The largest octahedron is a full 4.4 CM and the whole is translucent so it will glow with any backlighting. Many of the spinel from here have a melted look, this does too but much less than most and it maintains all of the structure and form that make this a very collectable and fine display crystal!
SOLD Stibnite in Calcite Twin
stock #SOLD 8.1-403
Nandan, Dachang Tin area
Guanxi, China
10.2 x 7.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $0

A superb butterfly twin of gemmy yellow calcite 4.8CM in size is sitting on stibnite crystals and is included by several. It is easy to see stibnite terminations inside the calcite. The twin sits on stibnite that in turn is sitting on a larger calcite crystal also included by stibnite. The larger crystal is less gemmy and is inferior to the twin so it is not featured. A very fine example from the early Nandan discovery (about 2001) that has not been repeated. This calcite has the top lustre and form that make these so desirable. Some contacts from stibnites on the calcite are visible but not serious, there is no damage to the twin and it displays very well.
Quartz Smoky (Alpine gem double terminated)
stock #8.1-404
Grimsel Area (Grimsel Pass) Hasli Valley
Bern, Switzerland
8.7 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $400

Swiss smoky quartz of top color, form and quality. This is actually doubly terminated (one end is a series of separate terminations) and pristine with no damage which is a very rare combination. 100% gem grade that is super sharp and lusterous. Alpine quartz this good is usually far more expensive when you can find it.!
Tourmaline (Elbaite- Indicolite)
stock #8 DK-060
Conselheiro Pena, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
7.8 X 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $3800

A killer gem crystal! First the piece is unrepaired, and the termination of this is like a cityscape. Individual peaks are staggered in an esthetic array. Secondly the color is rich and rare, a deep indicoloite blue grading to a deep bottle green. The luster is excellent and overall the condition is outstanding, no distracting damage or chips. Sizable too, so at a quick glance this looks dark and opaque due to the thickness, but this really glows with good lighting. The photos here have minimal backlight so the crystal is not "overlit" and unrealistic. You can really make it sing with stronger light if you want! Compare if you can find somthing like this, it is reasonable for so much good gem!
Tourmaline (elbaite)
stock #8-DK-061
Barra de Salinas Mining District, Coronel Murta
Minas Gerais, Brazil
2.6 x 1.3 CM (thumbnail)
price: $90

A cute small tourmaline with 3 color zones all in shades of green. Nice sharp termination and minimal nicks make this a good small gem crystal
