Chrysocolla - stalactitic with Quartz overgrowth
Ball Park Bench, Ray Mine, Scott Mountain, Pinal County
Arizona, United States
3.3 x 1.2 x .7 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $320
Early summer 2021
Fine form and vivid color in this translucent stalactitic-form Chrysocolla. From a recently rediscovered old stock of the 1978 find at the Ray Mine, this is a choice example of a quality rarely available. A classic for Arizona and the USA this piece comes from the Ball Park Bench find. The Quartz is a clear drusy overgrowth that is translucent to transparent. This piece is a pair of conjoined fingers growing from a sliver of Chrysocolla. The dark green looks like Malachite but we are told that this is a more oxidized Chrysocolla that has bands of blue and green. The fingers are perfect, no chips or damage, the base is the only broken bit as it was the point of removal.
