Copper with Quartz
stock #AX-19-163
Onganja Mine, Windhoek District
Khomas Region,
Namibia
5.1 x 2.8 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $350
Spring update
A crystallized sculpture of Copper from the famed Onganja mine that has several crystallized Quartz clusters perched. In fine condition, the Quartz seems to have formed on a Calcite core. A rare association, the tiny Quartz crystals are very clear, adding a sparkling accent. The Copper is in branching crystals with some showing crude spinel twinning and flattened, stretched octahedrons. Quartz is not a common association in these coppers.
Fluorites that are bright green, transparent and with complex form are perched on ball like masses of Muscovite. From a find in 2017 on Hohenstein Massif in Namibia, this has a very different form from previous discoveries. The so called jellybean green habit is well displayed on this piece and the Fluorites are undamaged. A close exam shows some of the Schorl is translucent in needle like crystals on the display face. Very three dimensional and a strong cabinet sized display piece.

A cluster of "melted look" transparent Fluorites are aligned in an epitaxial arrangement. A close look shows these are filled with fibrous Foitite crystals that are in sprays and curved bundles. A few Foitite are seen on the exterior as well with the characteristic fibrous terminations. In fine condition and especially impressive with magnification.

Erongo Region,
Namibia
6.6 x 3.8 x 2.4 CM (cabinet)

A pair of Tourmaline crystals decorated with several globular Fluorites. The Fluorites are included by hairlike Tourmalines that are a light green hue. From The slopes of the Hohenstein Massif in the Erongo, this is a likely a mixture of green Elbaite and Black Schorl Tourmaline. A very unusual arrangement and a nice setting for the transparent Fluorites.
A large gem clear Quartz that is a light smoke brown with coatings and inclusions of Schorl Tourmaline. Complex multi faced sides with ramparts make this a statuesque crystal. In excellent condition the overall look is an alpine type habit. In exceptional undamaged condition a few areas show a coating of Hyalite opal as well. Especially fine and choice for the locale this is far better in person.
