Epidote
stock #13.1-353
Malone Quarries, Hastings Co.
Ontario, Canada
3.5 x 2.9 x 3.3 CM (miniature)
price: $130
May 2015

Sharp. clean prismatic Epidote crystals from a less known locality. Crystals are well terminated and reach 2.5 CM in length. The only noticable damage is on the outside edges where this was removed, otherwise this is in quite good condition.

Barite w. Fluorite & Pyrite
stock #AX-10-846
Niobec Mine, St Honore
Quebec, Canada
8.1 x 2.4 x 1.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $250
May 2015

A single chisel tip Barite crystal partly jacketed in Fluorite (uncommon on these), Calcite and Pyrite crystals. Translucent, with some color zoning and a rosy core, this is a sharp example from this famed find. The Fluorites are not often seen on the Niobec Barites, these are gemmy and colorless but the pyrite adds a yellow hue to some. Nearly all of these have broken terminations as they grew on the roof of the pocket and fell off long ago. This one is nearly perfect, a slight cleave is noted on the tip as the only issue.

Vesuvianite
stock #17.1-516
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
3.1 x 2 x 1 CM (miniature)
price: $280
Post Tucson 2015

Esthetic bi-color Vesuvianite with excellent luster. In fine condition and much better in person, from the world s best locality for Vesuvianite, the great Jeffrey mine. These are modern classics and the mine is now gone forever. Once common, this quality level has become quite rare and often very expensive.

Serandite w. Aegirine & Leucophanite etc.
stock #AX-16-472
Mont Saint-Hilaire, Monteregie
Quebec, Canada
3.6 x 3.3 x 2.5 CM (miniature)
price: $350
pre Tucson 2015 update

A beautiful and complex specimen with sharp delicate crystals in an attractive jumble. The Serandites are especially nice and translucent. In fine condition, there are several micros of other minerals not identified. Another modern classic locale, St Hilaire has not provided collector minerals for the past 2 years.

Weloganite with Dresserite, Dawsonite
stock #AX-10-946
Francon Quarry, Montreal
Quebec, Canada
8.5 x 8.1 x 5.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $290
pre Tucson 2015 update

A sizable cavity filled with sharp Weloganite crystals up to 2.2 CM long. There are numerous tiny crystals of the classic related species (and probably some Strontianites too. The Francon Quarry is now gone, its Weloganites were by far the best ever found worldwide. The biggest of these are undamaged with the elegant complex hourglass habit well presented. There are some "natural" broken crystals in the pocket that show signs of partial rehealing. A good, affordable specimen with some well formed, rare crystals.

Vesuvianite
stock #17.1-507
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
2.7 x 2.4 x 2.6 CM (miniature)
price: $950
pre Tucson 2015 update

A top notch large thumbnail (toenail) of gemmy pointed tip type Vesuvianite with a glass-like luster. Competitive quality with no "naked eye" visible damage; (with magnification there is some damage on tiny crystals of the base), and a fine architecture. This has a lot of visual impact for the small size. The green Vesuvianites from Jeffrey were more common than the purple and other hues, but really good gemmy specimens like this were always rare and now are considered the world's best.

Prehnite & Grossular
stock #AX-27-164
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
4.2 x 2.5 x 1.8 CM (miniature)
price: $1400
pre Tucson 2015 update

Bright green Grossular with bright luster is the matrix for the rare blocky habit Prehnite crystals. Displays well from every side, this is simply an esthetic specimen of a rare and special combination. These were found over 20 years ago in a single zone, there were not many good ones then and now they are highly appreciated. A modern classic from the closed and much missed Jeffrey Quarry.

Vesuvianite with Diopside
stock #17.1-492
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
4 x 3.1 x 1.4 CM (miniature)
price: $2800
pre Tucson 2015 update

A killer miniature with top color, great esthetics, sharp gemmy crystals and in perfect condition. This is almost all Vesuvianite with a scattering of gemmy Diopside crystals that add a nice contrast. The deep green Vesuvianites are all with the pointed terminations and have gem clarity. This quality was rare and special when the mine was working but is now almost never available. Far better in person this piece really glows in any display.
