A nicely composed, lustrous and sharp Romanian specimen from the classic Cavnic mines. Since this locality closed the unique habits of Cavnic Stibnites have become sought after. This is in very good condition overall, but for a perfectionist this is not perfect. Edge damage where this was removed is noted, magnification reveals more tiny chips and contacts elsewhere but most are less than a mm in size. Some rough looking terminations are not damaged but are the more hackly type nestled in with the prismatic ones. The main areas are mostly undamaged, and the most prominent crystals are fine. This displays well the rare flat-habit metallic Stibnites in an esthetic array on contrasting matrix. Affordable with nice form and reasonable shape for and older, delicate mineral.
A superb example of this very special find with a sharp, sparkling rhomb of Siderite (3.4 CM) perched perfectly on a mix of Quartz, Chalcopyrite, Galena etc. In perfect condition with nice architecture and contrast, this displays very well from every angle. Ex John Marshall collection, these were never common and have been very hard to find now for many years.
