Spring 2020
A cluster of milky white Hamburgite crystals are perched protruding from the side of a smokey Quartz. The Quartz is doubly terminated and makes a contrast with the Hambergite. Individual Hambergite crystals reach 2 CM and they are in a stacked arrangement, showing well a prismatic form not the usual fibrous look. Transparent on thin edges but mostly translucent, this is a nice example of this uncommon Beryllium specie. Ex collection of Thomas Fitzpatrick, vintage late 1970s.
Vayrynenite -rare gem crystal
stock #19.1-299
Shengus (Shingus) Haramoush Mts. Skardu District
Gilgit-Baltistan,
Pakistan
1.7 x 1.3 x .6 CM (thumbnail)
price: $450
The rare gem mineral Vayrynenite has been found in a very few places worldwide, but by far the best have come from Pakistan, in small pockets sporadically over the past thirty years. This is from a pocket found in 2017 which was the last good find. Good orange red color, transparent to translucent showing very rough, crude terminations that at first glance look broken. These seem to have been etched and recrystallized at some point in the past. Well defined striations on the prism faces, this has well above average color, luster and transparency in a simple thumbnail.
Manganotantalite
stock #8.AE-965
Shengus (Shingus) Haramoush Mts. Skardu District
Baltistan, Northern Areas,
Pakistan
3.3 x 2.4 x 1.5 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $290
Blocky type crude crystals of Manganotantalite in a cluster that show the red-brown color very well. An older piece from Skardu that has several intergrown crystals these are in quite good condition and most of the faces have very clear striations. Typically this specie has rounded, crude form crystals, often indistinct especially as they get larger. However this is a good deal sharper than most and there is only one spot with a very small contact, otherwise complete on all sides, a floater specimen.
