A choice old Tilly Foster (USA) Chondrodite specimen. Several dark red Chondrodite crystals up to 1.3 CM stand on a matrix of Chondrodite and crystallized Clinochlore. This is from the important early collection of Wallace Gould Levison. His collection ledger notes he obtained this on May 9th, 1897 on a trip to the mine, purchased from a Mathew McClosky, we presume to be a miner. A copy of this ledger page is included. Some contacting and small chips are noted but the condition is still much better than typical. Tilly Foster specimens are highly sought after classics, hard to find in any quality, this piece has the very rare addition of a clear early provenance.
