Cerussite with Barite
stock #21.1-554
Mibladen Mining District, Midelt Province
Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
9.8 x 6.6 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $490
New Year 22

Large amounts of Cerussite from the finds at Mibladen Mine are easy to find on the mineral market. Despite the quantity, really fine quality is very scarce. This one has an excellent form, great contrast, and a main crystal that is both gemmy and very large at 4 CM across. The piece has the pink to red Barite blades mixed with two generations of Cerussites, which are a smokey yellow-brown hue. Glassy luster and good transparency are noted as are the geometric growth structures. At some angles the crystals seem to have been faceted. In great condition overall, there are some contacts and tiny rough spots not easily seen, for this famously delicate and sensitive mineral the condition is really impressive. More esthetic and well composed than 99.9 percent of these. This occurrence is already a modern classic, The profusion of average to good pieces has kept prices affordable and a very good value for nice Cerussites. The few pieces of this caliber do stand out and will certainly be much appreciated in the future. The strong yellow florescence is especially good on this.

Mibladen Mining District, Midelt Province
Meknes-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
4.9 x 3 x 3.5 CM (miniature)
price: $120
pre Tucson 2015 update

A very nice example of Cerussite on contrasting Barite from Mibladen. No damage, the sharp, gemmy Cerussite (double terminated) is well perched on the orange Barite. This locality has provided many good Cerussites, this one is much better than average and a very good value.

Vanadinite
stock #7.AE-247
Mibladen Mining District, Midelt Province
Meknes-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
3.2 x 3.3 x 3.2 CM (miniature)
price: $230
pre Tucson 2015 update

A nice specimen with large, stout crystals from the greatest locale of all time for Vanadinite, Mibladen. At 2.9 CM, the biggest crystal is quite large for the specie and is well perched on the smaller supporting crystals. Good color and luster, the backsides of the crystals are also complete but have the typical tan color, so the bright red is the logical display side.

Cerussite on Barite
stock #9.1-374
Mibladen Mining District, Midelt Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
7 x 6.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $300

A really nicely presented Cerussite sixling twin crystal sits atop a matrix of orange-red Barite blades. Great contrast and excellent condition on the display face. The main Cerussite is 2.7 CM across. The mines of Mibladen produced tons of average specimens but this one is far better than typical, an excellent example of a modern classic locality, a very good value.

Vanadinite on Goethite (stalactitic)
stock # 8.AE-722
Mibladen Mining District, Midelt Province
Meknes-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
2.6 x 1.5 CM (thumbnail)

A fine, esthetic small piece with excellent color and contrast. There are a lot of Vanadinites around, but few have good form and perfection. Looks nice on all sides.
