Spring update

A classic old Copper secondaries specimen with several old labels including a Wards label from 1913-22 vintage. Melanochalcite forms a thin zone around Cuprite in Nodules like this near Bisbee. This is an old varietal name for Tenorite which was first described in 1902. Other Copper secondaries are present as are several old handwritten labels in Italian. A colorful antique specimen.

stock #15.1-883
Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts., Cochise Co.
Arizona, United States
4.3 x 4.2 x2.4 CM (miniature)

Fall 2015

Old Bisbee specimen has three vugs with Cuprite V. Chalcotrichite crystals with typical bright red color. Ex. Rocksmith specimen, there are a few tiny bits of Native copper and some calcite crystals that seem to have copper inclusions too. Classic material, this small piece is relatively affordable for one of these.

Native Copper (pseudo after Cuprite) w. Malachite and Cuprite
stock #AC-052
Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts., Cochise Co.
Arizona, United States
7.3 x 6.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $360

Another classic Bisbee association, in an unusually fine specimen this is almost all native Copper in crude crystals. The Copper is a pseudomorph after Cuprite, with some unaltered zones and small Cuprite octahedrons that still have red color. Fibrous crystallized Malachite sprays add a rich green color. Magnification reveals some Calcite that is green colored due to the Copper. The definition of this piece is excellent, it is quite old it was sold by Schortmanns in the 60's and comes with that old label.
