Scorodite - classic Mexican
stock #10.1-330
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.7 x 5.8 x 4.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $450
new year 2021

A hefty cabinet-sized Scorodite specimen with very lustrous crystals from the earlier find at Mina Ojuela. At first glance the Scorodites look dark almost black but under strong lighting they are a dark transparent blue with a few green and yellow-green crystals mixed in. Unlike many Scorodites from Ojuela this does not have a crumbly matrix, this is a solid piece with no hint of degeneration. An excellent value, this piece from the earlier find in the 1970's is very different from the 2015-16 find, and these are rare on the market.

Adamite - purple
stock #17.1-548
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.4 x 3.7 x 3 CM (miniature)
price: $240
new year 2021

A pretty yet affordable miniature of the rarest color of Adamite, a good deep magenta-purple. Ex Les Hitchings collection, this has larger crystals with purple to white zoning and smaller crystals with a more vivid purple. As is typical of these Adamites the color is more concentrated and vivid at the terminations. The matrix holds a bonus some micro slender Legrandite crystals on the backside in a small vug of the Goethite matrix.

Mimetite
stock #20.1-711
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
3.6 x 2.2 x 1.7 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $70
new year 2021

A cute, smaller old style Mimetite that looks like a yellow-orange brocolli perched on a sliver of matrix. Good wet luster and sparkle. 1970's era specimen that could be trimmed to a thumbnail but looks fine as is. Good value for a cute Mimetite.

Legrandite
stock #20.1-336
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.5 x 2.9 x 1.8 CM (miniature)
price: $230
new year 2021

Radiating bright yellow crystals of Legrandite clustered in a spray partly protected in a shallow vug. On the typical gossan matrix, this specimen also has a few other smaller areas of Legrandite. One of the more sought after species from Mina Ojuela (or any place else) this from the early finds of the 1970's. Although Legrandite is known from about 20 localities worldwide only three finds produced "good" specimens with the very best from Mina Ojuela. As is typical there is some contacting and incomplete crystals but there are also many complete ones with perfectly terminated points. Especially impressive under magnification, this is a nice specimen that is not insanely expensive.

Wulfenite with Mimetite
stock #AX-11-227
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
4.7 x 3.8 x 2.2 CM (miniature)
price: $290

Elongated orange Wulfenites crystals free standing on a mixed matrix of Mimentite and gossan. From the epic discoveries in 2017 at Mina Ojuela, this sweet miniature has fine color, luster and is in excellent condition. This was a large find and produced a lot of specimens but few small pieces presented this well.

Calcite on Adamite
stock #AX-11-280
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5 x 4.2 x 2.3 CM (miniature)
price: $165

Sparkling reddish-pink Calcites encrust and contrast with green Adamite balls. Great luster and vivid color, this is hard to fully appreciate in photos but has really good display impact. Most of the Adamite is fully encased under the Calcite but it is seen clearly at some angles. Ojuela has produced many fine Adamites in many habits during a long history. This color combo is not so common, this miniature piece is in fine undamaged condition and would go well in a suite of choice Mexican minerals.

Adamite
stock #17.1-550
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.7 x 4.6 x 1.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
Spring 2020

Adamite crystals standing up from the limonite matrix in both white and light mint green colors. Early seventies vintage specimen from Mina Ojuela, ex Les Hitchings collection. Vivid fluorescence and in excellent condition. A few Calcite crystals are also on the matrix but this is mostly all Adamite. So much good Adamite came out during that period in many habits that these were under respected. Currently much less is coming out and we know this was a golden age for the worlds best examples of this specie. Choice display with good visual impact for the size.

Mimetite and Calcite over Wulfenite
stock #AC-036
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
3.9 x 2.8 x 2.4 CM (miniature)
price: $750
Spring 2020

A super choice old Wulfenite found over 40 years ago with rare green color. The Wulfenites blades are likely a transparent yellow color inside but the overgrowth and inclusion of green acicular Mimetites adds the coveted green color. The Wulfenites are also overgrown with clear Calcite and some reddish Calcites on the ridges aded a nice color contrast. In excellent condition, these are almost never available. Displays well on several sides, the main crystals are complete and undamaged but there is a peripheral broken blade seen on just one side. Excellent bright sparkling esthetics and a nice addition to any serious Wulfenite suite.
