Epidote (doubly terminated) on Quartz (doubly terminated)
stock #12.1-011
Capelinha, Jequitinhouha Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
7.3 x 2.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $120

Real unusual and quite remarkable, a perfect floater! Doubly terminated Epidote crystals (largest is 2.4 CM) on a clear quartz 7.3 CM long that is also doubly terminated. Several smaller Epidotes penetrate into the quartz and can be seen from all sides. I have never seen any other like this.

Epidote (sharp prismatic form)
stock #12.1-010
Capelinha, Jequitinhouha Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
4.1 x 3.8 CM (miniature)
price: $160

Sharp, bright shining luster and well-composed. The "back" side has a light dusting of secondary Epidotes so it is slightly duller, the "front" is just glassy clean and pretty. From a small find that was not typical, these look much better than most Capelinha Epidotes. Very good display and more affordable than other locations.

Epidote on Byssolite
stock #AC-204
Knappenwand, Untersulzbachal Valley
Hohe Tauern Mts. Salzburg, Austria
7.2 x 4.8 CM (small cabinet/large miniature)
price: $85

From the historic and most highly regarded locality for Epidote this is a good example of the Byssolite association and an inexpensive way to own a true classic! The Epidotes reach 1.5 cm set on a sparkling mound of Byssolite fibers. There is damage on the Epidotes, they are not the gemmy crystals this locale is known for, but the Byssolite is very attractive. This piece is from a 1930's vintage collection and is very reasonably priced.
