Proustite - large Ruby Silver crystals
stock #23.FC-049
Imiter Mine, Imiter Mining Dist., Tinghir Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
3.8 x 2.2 x 1.5 CM (miniature)
price: $2750
Spring 23

Superb bright red Ruby Silver (Proustite) crystals in an esthetic grouping. An exceptionally fine specimen from the recent finds at Imiter Mine, (Morocco) this is pure Proustite with no matrix at all. The color and luster are first rate, in excellent condition and displayable from practically any angle, this has a strong esthetic impact. Fine Proustite crystals have been prized by collectors for centuries. The are rare and the old classic localities in Europe and Charancillo are all long gone. This discovery of Proustite in Morocco made huge news in the mineral world. This piece is exceptional for the find, sharp crystals to 2 CM in size, textbook form, bright luster and color. This looks very much like a classic German specimen but at one-tenth the price.

Proustite
stock #20.1-910-(ZS-pst4097)
Imiter Mine, Imiter Mining Dist., Tinghir Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
10.2 x 7.1 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1200
new year 2021

A large specimen richly covered on both sides with hundreds of brilliant Proustite crystals. This shows perfectly why this specie is called Ruby Silver, the crystals are all transparent, gemmy and sparkling red. The vivid color and bright luster of the transparent prisms stands out against the dark matrix. Ex David Lloyd collection, in outstanding fine condition with a few small blebs of Silver seen with magnification. From the early finds of Proustite at Imiter that were a great sensation in the mineral world. Prior to this find Proustite was only available from a few old classic Silver localities in Chile and Europe, they were (and are) treasured and expensive rarities. The Moroccan find had allowed collectors with less deep pockets to have fine specimens of this "noble" mineral.

Proustite - Ruby Silver crystals
stock #12.1-248
Imiter Mine, Imiter Mining Dist., Tinghir Province
Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
5.7 x 3.8 x 2.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $3300
new year 2021

A fine and esthetic specimen of nearly pure dark red Proustite in distinct crystals. Proustite is a true mineral lover's specie, the most desirable and rare of the "Ruby Silvers". Good specimens are prized and great ones are very highly valued. This is an excellent piece very fine for the locality which is one of the small number of sources for great specimens worldwide. This displays well in several orientations, it is crystallized on nearly every surface. Incredible under magnification too, with good lighting the Proustite is a brilliant ruby red and translucent. In excellent condition damage-wise, which is also rare for this delicate mineral. Several different habits are present, some seem to be twinned and the smallest crystals are clustered in rosettes and balls, the larger crystals are more distinct and somewhat separated. Super choice.

Proustite on Quartz - classic
stock #AX-12-209
Freiberg
Saxony, Germany
2.2 x 1.8 x 1.7 (thumbnail)
price: $200

Deep red small crystals of Proustite scattered on a complex mix of tiny yellowish Quartz crystals. A nice thumbnail of a "noble" Silver mineral that has several different habits showing. With magnification some broken areas are noted which is typical for most Proustites but all in all this is a cute and fairly rich specimen from a classic locale. Ex. Wm. Hladysz collection, he acquired this in 2003.

Proustite
stock #7.AE-210
Bou Azzer District, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Province
Souss- Massa- Draa Region, Morocco
6.5 x 5.8 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $860

A very rich, aesthetically presented and fine specimen of the rarest of the Ruby Silver minerals, Proustite. A large 4.6 CM crystalized mass of nearly pure Proustite in association with minor Acanthite crystals rises from the matrix. There is no visible damage even under 10x magnification. The individual Proustites are brilliant ruby color, lustrous and well-formed up to 3 mm in size and arranged on clusters. A great piece that shows the specie well from a great Silver locality. While this is not going to compete with the best old German and Chilean examples, it is affordable and pretty. This is one of the best I have seen from Morocco, likely from the Imiter Mine but I can not confirm the locality beyond the Bou Azzer region.
