Gem clear, sharp and with top glass-like luster this has a lot of impact for its size. From the long flooded deep areas of the main pit at Jeffrey, this is the sort of Garnet that made this spot world famous. Flat contact on back (typical of these plates) and very 3 dimensional of the display side, excellent condition. These have become very hard or very expensive to get in this quality.

3.8 x 3.6 x 1 CM (small miniature)

A very bright, clear and perfect little gem from the great Jeffrey Mine. A fine small miniature / toenail, this could also be trimmed to make a competition thumbnail. The matrix is a mix of Clinochlore crystals and small clear Grossular that are pale pink or colorless. The main Garnet is cinnamon orange-red, well-positioned on the plate and is complete all around. You can see through it perfectly.
Even before this legendary locale closed for good the Garnets had become scarce and very expensive when of top quality. This is far better in person and a real bargain for the quality and esthetics.

Some of the world's best red Grossular has come from the classic quarries of Eden Mills. Now very hard to find in any quality, this is an attractive small specimen in excellent condition with lustrous, gemmy red brown crystals. The grass green matrix of crystallized Diopside makes a fine contrast for the Garnets and this really displays well. This could also be trimmed to make a fine competitive thumbnail if desired.
Grossular from the defunct Jeffrey mine is considered some of the world's best, especially in the rarer colors. Pink is particularly desirable and quite uncommon. This specimen is especially bright, lustrous and has strong color. The small crystals are well-formed, sharp and distinctly aligned in sheets and plates giving a nice overall arrangement. Displays well from several angles, most crystals are perfect with only a few damaged ones found with magnification, and not at all noticeable. A very good value.

From an small, little known find several years ago from the Wah Wah Mountains, a region better known for red beryl found further south from this locale. This specimen hosts a nicely perched, big (2cm) crystal with great luster and an unusually deep green color. Excellent contrast with the matrix, this crystal has been reattached, like every other example I've seen. This specimen has by far the best color of any I know and stands out well for the locality and the specie.
