Apatite on Albite with Clinochlore
stock #15.1-1027-(SM3197)
Tormiq Valley, Haramoush Mountains, Skardu District
Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
5 x 4.1 x 4.4 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $400
New Year 22

Compound crystal of Apatite CaF 4.7 CM across is perched nicely on a snowy white Albite matrix sprinkled with Clinochlore. Well-defined faces, good luster and with nice striations, the crystal is a cream-yellow color and transparent in parts. Good fluorescence also. An alpine style habit and association, this from Pakistan though, it really looks like a fine Austrian piece. Older labels included, Ex Nick Carruth (Cornwall, UK) David Crawford and Charles Noll (USA). In very good condition no obvious damage and better in person too.

Apatite CaF on Calcite - classic Canadian
stock #21.1-354
Faraday Mine, Farady Township, Bancroft District, Hastings County
Ontario, Canada
9.1 x 5.4 x 2.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $380
Late Summer 2021

A fine, large doubly terminated Apatite crystal sits on an orange Calcite matrix. The Apatite is well-formed with the typical slightly rounded edges and two different types of termination. Fluorapatites are fairly common in the scattered Skarns of this region but substantial crystals like this are not found very often. There are some minor contacts but overall this is a distinctive textbook form crystal with some areas of glassy luster. A modern classic.

Fluorapatite with Cookite
stock #15.1-872
Mount Rubellite, Hebron, Oxford County
Maine, United States
5.2 x 3.3 x 2.5 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $580
Early summer 2021

A richly crystalized purple Apatite from the classic Mt Rubellite in Maine. The Apatites show the distinctive "Hebron" form and cover the two largest faces and much of the sides on this piece. The crystals are also quite gemmy. This has a boxwork matrix of Cookite etc, and the luster is especially bright. In fine condition and with very good purple color, this can be displayed from almost any angle. Any nice purple Apatite from Maine is usually very hard to find as these are highly sought after, very little is found and only obtained from older collections.

Fluorapatite with Elbaite
stock #20.1-085
Pederneira Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
6.3 x 4.3 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $1650
new year 2021

A very fine, super colorful and very unusual Apatite from the famed Pederneira Mine. The Apatite crystals show several generations of growth and color zoning quite different from the tourmaline the mine is famed for. This specimen also has a bi-colored, doubly terminated Elbaite crystal on the backside that is 4.7 CM long, a nice addition. The Apatites have sharp flat terminations and colors zones in purple, blue, orange-red and some dark green. These also show well some selective growth and etching with areas of re-crystallization. This makes for a complex and especially interesting presentation that looks fine from several angles. Excellent condition with no damage, this is the best Apatite I have seen from Pederneira, and would be a fine piece from anyplace. Vividly fluorescent with a zoned responses corresponding with the daylight color areas.

Apatite (Fluorapatite) on Calcite
stock #AX-10-663
Otter Lake, Pontiac County
Quebec, Canada
8.8 x 6.3 x 5 CM (cabinet)
price: $220
new year 2021

Doubly terminated, lustrous Apatite crystals set in a pink Calcite matrix. The Apatites are a mix of green to red-brown colors and have the typical slightly rounded edges noted from the Canadian Skarn deposits in this region. The matrix is sawn on the backside which is not visible on display. The smaller crystals have chipping but the largest (6.5 CM) is pristine. These Apatites are slightly transparent and fully translucent.

price: $390
new year 2021

A complex mix of sharp gemmy Apatites with Quartz crystals that are in turn covered with small Siderites and a sprinkle of Pyrite. From the famed Panasqueira Mine, this is both esthetic and has an unusual presentation. The Apatite (Fluorapatite) is vividly fluorescent and in fine condition.

Apatite (Fluorapatite)
stock #20.1-782
Panasquieira Mines, Panasquiera Covilha
Cova da Beira, Centro, Portugal
5.5 x 5.7 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $420
new year 2021

Sharp, glassy and transparent green Apatite crystals in a cluster that features a main 3.6 CM crystal perched on top. The Apatites are zoned, vividly fluorescent, and have just a sprinkle of matrix; this is mostly just Apatite. In very good condition, with just tiny edge bruises seen on close exam which keeps the price low for such good form and luster. Nice display quality Apatite from this iconic mine.

Apatite (fluorapatite) - gemmy
stock #17.1-082
Cerro de Mercado, Victoria de Durango
Durango, Mexico
4.1 x 3.2 x 2.2 CM (miniature)
price: $540
new year 2021

Super choice miniature with a perfectly transparent main Apatite nicely perched on a jumble of small Quartz crystals. A few tiny Magnetite and Goethite bits are also scattered, but the focus is the beautiful yellow-green Apatite that is flawless and very impressive in person. This locale has produced many good pieces over the years but this is a standout for quality - a real gem in person.
