Sharp and transparent crystals of Selenite in an aligned cluster. These are textbook perfect in form, and oddly enough show no signs of true twinning which is the more common habit. As seen this is in fine condition, no damage but some very minor edge wear is noted just to be comprehensive. Selenite is not rare at all but super fine clear crystals like this are really uncommon. The stack of individual crystals is perfectly oriented and a nice example of epitaxy.

Gemmy orange blades of Selenite from the find almost 20 years ago at Salinas de Otuma. The condition is excellent and the form is an unusual, flower-like cluster. The edges of each crystal is incredibly thin and almost colorless while the center of the crystal blades is a rich orange. These have become uncommon on the market but they remain attractive and still affordable.

An unusual habit from this famed Canadian locale, a spherical rosette of small bladed crystals hosts a cluster of larger twinned Selenites. I have been informed that at one time some pieces were heated or baked to make this selective white areas on the golden selenite, so this is not fully natural but human modified. Not sure why this was done as the golden color is quite nice on its own but theoverall effect is esthetic in a different way. Overall this looks fine from any angle. The crystals are a golden to orange-yellow color except at the terminations which are a milky white. In fine condition, we have handled a lot of Selenite from this locale but this piece is quite different in style. As is usual for Selenite from the Red River this is strongly fluorescent.

Large and with textbook perfect form, this is a killer old German Selenite ex. Lazard Cahn, Charles Noll and others. Lazard Cahn (1865-1940) had a long and highly regarded career as a mineral collector and dealer. His label is vintage 1908-1940, the mine itself is even older, type locale for two species and a classic locale by any definition. The Gypsum is fully transparent, sharp and internal structures and clouds can be clearly seen inside. From some angles the internal structures seem to show a phantom but it is faint. The main crystal twin is doubly terminated and looks fine from any angle but the second photo shows the best view in my opinion.

These still represent a very good value for a colorful, display quality specimen. This piece is from a small lot that has been in storage since the mid seventies. Sharp, glassy transparent crystals to 2.5 CM tall stand out from the matrix. In perfect condition, in person this is far more clear and very lustrous.

Textbook perfect, sharp and transparent, a single doubly terminated Selenite from the famed Naica Mine. This is a 1970s vintage specimen in fine condition as seen. There are a few wispy inclusions that are not visible on some display angles, the exterior luster is very glassy with a few areas with very minor frosting. Overall this is a choice example. The Naica mine produced a lot of Selenite in its day. Not much that came out was this fine, most had some damage or edge issues. Now that the mine is closed these better specimens are becoming treasures.
