Calcite w. Hematite
stock #15.1-992-(SM4995)
Daye Iron Mine, Edong Mining District, Huangshi Prefecture
Hubei Province, China
6.1 x 3 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $330

Hematite included Calcite crystal with fine color, luster and an overall esthetic presentation. This is an unusual form twin that is completely different from any others I have seen from Daye. With well-developed phantoms, this is in excellent undamaged condition.

Calcite - optically clear single crystal - ex. W. I. Johansson
stock #15.1-719
Charcas
San Luis Potosi, Mexico
4.5 x 3.1 x 2.2 CM (miniature)
price: $300
Winter 2016-17

Slightly frosted on some faces, sharp, clear and in fine condition, this old specimen is from 1960s vintage finds at Charcas. Selective frosting adds to the visual interest and the form is textbook perfect. The termination shows a nice effect with the selected areas outlining a central hexagon. Nothing quite like these Calcites has since been found.

Calcite on Duftite on Dolomite cast
stock #AX-21-020
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
5.2 x 3.9 x 2 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $650
Fall 2015

A fine Tsumeb specimen with sharp, clear Calcites growing on a bright contrasting green Duftite. The Duftite can be seen through the Calcites and the condition is excellent. The underlying matrix is a thin section of Dolomite cast which is itself a very interesting and quite desirable collectable. First rate esthetics.

Calcite on Quartz fingers
stock #AX-15-285
Banpo Mine, Dushan Co., Qiannan Pref.
Guizhou Province, China
5.6 x 4.7 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $280
Fall 2015

Green Calcite in flattened disk-like crystals are perched on slender fingers of Quartz. When these were found the color was attributed to copper salts in the calcite, this was never confirmed though it is likely. An older specimen obtained in 2002 at the mine and formerly in the Shields Flynn collection. A very good example in fine condition from the one time discovery.

Calcite on Dolomite
stock #AX-17-1072
Benchmark Quarry, St. Johnsville, Montgomery County
New York, United States
5.5 4.3 x 2.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $65
Fall 2015

Very cute, affordable and in good condition from the Benchmark quarry collected by Bill Hladysz many years ago. Three individual Calcite prisms are perched on a crystallized Dolomite matrix.

Calcite on Marcasite w. Dolomite
stock #AX-17-1074
Benchmark Quarry, St. Johnsville, Montgomery County
New York, United States
4.8 x 3.1 x 2.3 CM (miniature)
price: $45
Fall 2015

Very cute, affordable and in good condition from the Benchmark quarry collected by Bill Hladysz many years ago. A single Calcite prism is perched on a Dolomite and Marcasite matrix with a few micro Pyrites as well. These are modern NY classic specimens.

Calcite w. Marcasite & Dolomite
stock #AX-17-1073
Benchmark Quarry, St. Johnsville, Montgomery County
New York, United States
4.7 x 3.2 x 2.9 CM (miniature)
price: $95
Fall 2015

Amber colored Calcite crystals are prominently perched on a crystallized Dolomite matrix. In fine condition with rich color and above average clarity, this was collected by Bill Hladysz many years ago. The Benchmark Quarry is now something of a modern NY state classic locality. Affordable and pretty.

Calcite
stock #15.1-512
Elmwood Mine, Carthage
Tennessee, United States
7.1 x 6 x 1.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $185
Fall 2015

As simple gem-clear Calcite twin sits lightly connected to a flat limestone matrix. The Calcite shows zoning from Cognac to almost colorless. Sharp, perfect and incredibly lustrous. A small and quite affordable example of what has made Elmwood famous for world class Calcites! A second smaller Calcite is on the matrix that has a cleave on it, but it is hidden behind the main Calcite. Choice.
