Elbaite (bent, doubly terminated crystal)
stock #15.1-971-(SM-723)
Gilgit, Gilgit district
Gilgit, Northern Areas, Pakistan
7.5 x 3.3 x 2.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $485
Winter 2016-17

An odd but very attractive, zoned Tourmaline crystal that is clearly bent. Doubly terminated and with three color zones this in fine condition. A cluster of Cleavelandite blades is the only matrix. One termination is an uncommon slanted habit. This is an early Pakistan specimen from some of the earliest finds (1970s) that looks a bit like later Stak Nala material, but is from Gilgit area. A good value for a rare habit and nice esthetics.

Elbaite - blue capped crystals
stock #15.1-587
Mina Camilo Gigante, Itinga
Minas Gerais, Brazil
2.9 x 1.5 x 1.3 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $325
Winter 2016-17

Excellent quality, zoned gem Tourmalines with distinct blue caps. Both crystals are terminated, the larger with a simple flat top and the smaller with a more complex habit. By naked eye there is no damage seen but a 20X magnification does find micro chipping on a few edges, still about as close to perfect as can be found. From finds about 6 years ago. A good value for a nice, small but clean gem.

Elbaite var. Rubellite with blue-green center stripe
stock #16.1-560
Coronel Murta, Jequitinhonha Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
1.9 x .7 x .7 (thumbnail)
price: $380
Winter 2016-17

A super and unusual thumbnail gem crystal with a clear red Rubellite exterior that lets the green-blue inner core be seen like a racing stripe. Choice and better in person, there is a tiny bit of adhering matrix and one small clean contact with no damage. This crystal is also dichroic with a good color shift seen when rotated in front of a light source like a computer screen. Small but with a good display impact far larger than the size!

Elbaite - gem grade crystal
stock #15.1-422
Resplendor Mine - Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
4.9 x .8 x .4 CM (miniature)
price: $580
Winter 2016-17

Sharp, pure gem clear grade with fine green to blue green color. The photos have a very slight backlighting, with a stronger backlight this crystal glows intensely and shows some blue zones as well. In fine condition as seen with top notch glass-like luster internally flawless and super clear. Older material from the famed Resplendor Mine, there has not been any like this available for some time.

Elbaite - bi-color
stock #16.1-017
Mesa Grande, San Diego Co.
California, United States
3.3 x 1 x .7 CM (miniature)
price: $140
Winter 2016-17

Gem clear and quite impressive for the small size, a delicate pastel hue Tourmaline. Formed of two clear crystals one with a perfect termination, the smaller is broken at the tip, hence quite inexpensive. Despite this break the tourmaline still looks quite attractive.

Elbaite (hollow, fibous) on Cleavlandite and Muscovite
stock #15.1-511
Skardu District
Baltistan, Northern Areas, Pakistan
6.8 x 6 x 5 CM (cabinet)
price: $975
Fall 2015

Stunning red Rubellite crystals with delicate "castellated" hollow terminations perched on a flower-like rosette of Cleavelandite. Great form, color and display quality this rare etched habit of Elbaite is from a small recent find. In incredible condition, undamaged despite the delicate structure and attractive from all angles. Better in person, the larger Tourmaline is 4 cm tall, the smaller one is extra gemmy and perfectly hollowed out. An great value for a rare and pretty gem crystal specimen.

Elbaite v. Indicolite
stock #AX-19-319
Pederneira Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
3.8 x .5 x .5 CM (miniature)
price: $325
Post Tucson 2015

Blue color zoned gem Tourmaline in perfect condition and with fine luster. The body of this is a darker blue that needs backlighting to show up well, the tip is a very transparent light blue that grades darker along the crystal. A very nice "steel blue" crystal from the famed Pederneira claim, these are modern classics and not very common at not stratospheric prices.

Elbaite -slightly curved crystal
stock #AX-19-100
Barra do Salinas Mining District, Coronel Murta
Minas Gerais, Brazil
7.2 x 2.2 x 1.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $325
Post Tucson 2015

A darker bottle green Tourmaline with a subtle curve, color gradation and complete termination. 34.5 Grams in heft, there is an area of fibrous (cat's eye) crystal in the curve zone where this crystal has had some natural breaks and rehealing. There is one repair at that point as well. A good, sizable, affordable crystal from a famed locale in good condition as seen.
