Spring 2017
A choice single scalenohedral Rhodo crystal with a small bit of matrix adhering to the back and bottom. Super bright color and sharp, glassy prism faces. The lower termination has some contacts on the back side but otherwise this is in super fine condition and the front side displays very clean as seen. An excellent Peruvian thumbnail that looks a bit like a South African. Choice.
A choice small Rhodo specimen with nice color and in fine condition. The matrix is a dark Goethite that is covered with tiny colorless Fluorite crystals that look black due to the matrix showing through. The Rhodos are mostly scalenohedral with truncated tips some of them showing some "wheat sheaf" habit. Good coverage as well makes this a nice display piece.

China
3.2 x 2.8 x 1.5 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $725
Winter 2016-17
A choice deep red Rhomb habit crystal with a small amount of Fluorite and Pyrite. This looks very much like a good Sweet Home Mine specimen but it is from the Wuton Mine. A small percentage of these were quite fine as seen here. Sharp, well-formed, complete and undamaged this has a nice frosted surface showing etching surfaces. Choice and attractive but far less expensive than a comparable USA specimen. This quality has not been coming out in the past few years.

Capillitas Mine, Andagala
Catamarca,
Argentina
4.3 x 4.5 x 1.2 CM (miniature)
price: $330
Post Tucson 2015
A deep, rich red Rhodo showing the fortification structures and crystalline interior of the knob. From the famed Capillitas deposit, this is a vintage specimen from the 1960's that shows the older very deep red not seen in recent finds.
A fine, high impact specimen with well formed red rhombs (up to 2.2 CM) offset with branching crystallized Acanthite. This specimen shows very well the combination of Sulphide species that were associated with this remarkable find of Rhodochrosite. Excellent condition and form, this can be displayed from several angles.
A big, sharp and well-formed single crystal of the rare "Mt St. Hilaire habit" of Rhodochrosite. Due to the thin nature of this piece it will fit in a thumbnail category but it looks bigger in person. The color is a brownish that can glow deep red with a backlight. In good condition damage-wise, there are just some very tiny edge chips seen at 10x magnification on the front face and a bigger chip on the backside. For this delicate thin habit this piece is remarkable. A great addition to any good suite of Rhodochrosites or Canadian minerals.
A well-composed Rhodo thumbnail with great color from the Larry White collection. The piece is mostly just 3 rhombs juxtaposed with almost no matrix. Good translucency and luster this is a nice yet affordable example. The cost of any good Sweet Home specimens has consistently gone up every year, and since "they ain't makin 'em no more" the supply is now very small.
From a new, exciting small find of bright Rhodochrosite from the famed N'Chwanning Mine. This locale is world famed for the great finds made over 20 years ago. Good pieces from the old pockets are now some of the most expensive mineral specimens on the planet. The new zone was very small, it had a similar look (but with some differences) to some earlier finds. The color is a deep pink-red that can be almost electric under some lighting. This is a fine example with distinctive, sharp spheres of bright, sparkling Rhodo. Very good display quality that looks great from several angles.
