Hemimorphite - intense blue
stock #21.1-009
Sa Duchessa Mine, Oridda Valley, Domusnovas, South Sardinia Province
Sardinia, Italy
4.2 x 2.7 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $180
new year 2021

A small but vivid blue Hemimorphite with a sparkling luster from the classic Sa Ducessa Mine. In fine condition save at the outer edge where this was removed the display side is perfect and undamaged. This is a fairly old specimen (over 25 years at minimum) and since the color is still excellent it seems to be fully color stable. The deeper blue grades to a lighter powder blue on some of the botryoids. Unlike the recent fake Hemimorphites from Mexico which were a darker blue this is full natural and a nice example from this famed locale.

Hemimorphite on Goethite
stock #18-AX-035
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.8 x 5.6 x 3.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $330
new year 2021

Remarkable esthetics, a bright white radiating cluster of bladed Hemimorphite crystals set in a sculptural Gossan matrix. The matrix is quite unusual being a series of concentric half spherical voids or cups which are all empty except one with the flower-like spray perched in the center. There has been thousands of Hemimorphite specimens found over the years at Mina Ojuela, it takes something very special to stand out in the crowd. This is such a piece with excellent form and bright luster on the Hemimorphite blades.

79 Mine, Hayden, Banner District, Gila County
Arizona, United States
5.7 x 2.7 x 2 CM (cabinet)
price: $50
new year 2021

A knobby growth of light blue-green Hemimorphite that has encrusted the matrix on all sides. The surface is fully covered by small sparkling crystals which are translucent and quite lustrous. From the 79 Mine, a well-known locality for fine Smithsonite and Wulfenite but which is also home to a wide array of Lead, Copper and Zinc minerals.

Hemimorphite
stock #AX-19-217
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
10.1 x 7.7 x 6.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
Late Summer 2018

Two generations of well-formed Hemimophite crystals on a gossan matrix. The smaller crystals are colorless, glass clear and very lustrous. The larger are a milky white with a hint of reddish included Hematite. Free standing, these larger crystals reach 2.5 CM. A very three-dimensional matrix and with several excellent angles for display, this is an older Mina Ojuela specimen that is not like material from later finds. The early finds are highly respected as perhaps the best prismatic crystals of the specie ever found. A modern Mexican classic that is still affordable.

Hemimorphite -radiating sheaf habit crystals
stock #17.1-884
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
5.8 x 4.6 x 3.9 CM (cabinet)
price: $380
Pre Holiday 2017

A radiating ball like spray of blue hued Hemimorphite crystals from the famed Mina Ojuela. The individual sheaves reach 1.3 CM and are somewhat zoned, a hint of green copper secondaries are seen as well. Unlike most of the Hemimorphites from this locale, these are opaque crystals and the luster is subdued overall but have a sparkling secondary coating of smaller clear Hemi crystals. The display area in in fine condition but the back and underside have some damage or contacting. Some minor Goethite is also present as small spheres. Not typical at all, this is an odd yet pretty specimen.

Hemimorphite- Radiating blue crystals
stock #AX-11-036
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango, Mexico
6.1 x 5.9 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $850

A starburst of glassy Hemimorphite crystals with the extra attraction of being a nice pale blue color. From 2015 finds in Mina Ojuela, this is an especially fine and esthetic specimen. Some of the best Hemimorphite ever found comes from this locale, but very little ever had this most desirable blue color. The individual prisms are up to 1.1 CM long and have a bright glassy luster. Choice and very rarely available in this quality.

Hemimorphite - finger-like growth
stock #16.1-628
Wenshan County, Wenshan Autonomous Prefecture
Yunnan Province, China
4.8 x 3.2 x 2.6 CM (miniature)
price: $475
Spring 2017

An exceptionally esthetic botryoidal growth of Hemimorphite with a rich blue-green color. Looks a lot like a Smithsonite. This is in undamaged condition, has perfect wet-look luster and a coating of micro clear Hemimorphite crystals to add a little sparkle. Wenshan has become a world class producer of Hemimorphite but this habit is not at all typical, a very choice miniature.

Hemimorphite with Malachite (classic old locale)
stock #0044-JM-2296
Rezbanya, Baita Mining District, Nucet
Bihor, Romania
7.4 x 6.1 x 3.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $675
Post Tucson 2015

Brilliant lustrous blue color crystals on this very old, fine classic piece. Ex Lechner, (Austria), Schortmann, and John Marshall collection, the old labels have this in Hungary (now Romania) and was in the Lechner collection prior to 1903, but likely from much earlier in the 19th century. In fine condition with an electric color, there seems to be some Chrysocolla as well as Malachite under the Hemimorphite which helps the rich color. Excellent quality, fine provenance and eye-catching sparkling esthetics that is simply impossible to find today.
