Manganite
stock #15.1-452
Ilfeld, Nordhausen, Harz Mts
Thuringia, Germany
5.7 x 4.1 x 2 CM (cabinet)
price: $320
Spring 2017

A fine, old German Manganite with very lustrous metallic crystals. Looks good on all sides but the "front" is a bit better. Typical crystal habits reaching to 3.3 CM. Some contacts and breakage keeps the price very low for one of these classics yet this still displays quite well.

Manganite with Barite - classic specimen
stock #15.1-567
Ilfeld, Nordhausen, Harz Mts
Thuringia, Germany
7.3 x 5 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $270
Winter 2016-17

A nearly pure mass of Manganite that is the matrix for a well-crystallized vug filled with sharp Manganite crystals and white Barites. Ex Patricia Barker collection, this is a fine condition specimen and certainly a older vintage piece. Not quite the usual habit for the location, the crystals are sharp and lustrous.

Manganite w. Barite
stock #8.1-421
Ilfeld, Nordhausen, Harz Mts
Thuringia, Germany
5.2 x 3.4 CM (miniature)
price: $380

From the most famous and classic locality for Manganite this is a very attractive recent specimen excavated from an adit discovered on an old dump dating to the 1500s. Much Manganite in collections can have several hundred years of history as the Harz Mts have produced the best materials centuries ago. This find produced a small number of good pieces some with very bright luster. This is a good example with excellent contrast with the calcite that has been partially etched away. This is also far more affordable than the vintage materials when they can be found!

Manganite
stock #7-AE-030
Ilfield
Harz Mountains, Germany
5 X 3.1 CM (miniature)
price: $400

A classic from the world's greatest source for crystalized Manganite. This piece is probably well over 150 years old and shows the most desirable crystal form, luster and style that has made the Ilfield Manganites famous. These are rarely available at this price level, I expect this will not last long. There is some damage at the edges (see the photos) and on some crystals but is not distracting, and it still displays well. If perfect this would easily command 1500.00 or more. A very attractive miniature and a great piece of mineral history!
