Mimetite with Goethite
Preguica Mine, Sobral da Adica, Moura
7 x 3.7 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
new year 2021
From Portugal, a very well-crystalized, delicate specimen of Mimetite from a locality we do not see often, but which is certainly an important deposit. Mimetite crystals are dense but well separated on all sides of this matrix with both yellow and orange colors. The matrix is a mix of bluish-black manganese oxides and Goethite which makes an excellent contrast for the Mimetites. Despite the obvious delicacy this is in excellent condition and the matrix seems to be quite solid and stable. Excellent addition for any suite of Lead secondaries, this is a very choice example from Preguica. Clearly unlike Mimetite specimens from any other locality.
