SOLD Rhodochrosite on Quartz
stock #SOLD 19.1-338
Wutong Mine, Liubao, Cangwu Co. Wuzoh Pref.
Guangxi Province, China
7.6 x 6.3 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $0
new year 2021

Sharp crystals of delicate Rhodochrosite are covering clear Quartz crystals. The Rhodos are, on close inspection, all very perfect flattened Rhombs that look disk-like and which stand out in flower-like clusters. In incredible, undamaged condition, this is certainly even better in person, and a very unusual Rhodo with incredible esthetics. This specimen is from the earlier find at Wutong and when these were first found were miss-attributed to another nearby locality. The look of this habit is very different from all the later finds and is certainly much more rare.

Rhodochrosite with minor Silver, Fluorite and Quartz
stock #20.1-915
Wutong Mine, Liubao, Cangwu Co. Wuzoh Pref.
Guangxi Province, China
3.3 x 2 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $320
new year 2021

An older specimen from the Wutong Mine (China) with very good pink to red Rhomb crystals. Close exam with magnification will find several very small crude crystals and masses of Silver on the underside. This is certainly not a display grade Silver specimen but more of interest as an accessory mineral on the Rhodos. This find was an important discovery and in the first zones exploited the crystals usually had a rhomb form while later finds tended to be more flattened or disk shaped. Overall in very good condition and with with some faces showing etching and brighter luster.

Pyromorphite with partial Galena pseudomorphs
stock #20.1-877
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
5.7 x 3.7 x 3.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $1350
new year 2021

A very rich and super esthetic Pyromorphite from the great finds at Daoping in Guanxi, China. Two generations of well-formed Pyros have slightly different hues of green and all have excellent bright luster. The larger crystals are free standing and reach 1.3 CM. Terminations of the larger crystals are both hopper habit and prismatic with the larger being more the cavernous hoppered type. On a few sides of these prisms there are secondary alterations of rare pseudomorphing to a Galena sheath which is the overgrown by a third generation of extra bright green Pyro. This phenomenon is very rare worldwide, but well-known from just a few European locales and ultra rare from China. Overall this is incredible condition, it is even better in person and is an excellent example of the specie and the locality.

Rhodochrosite with Fluorite, Pyrite etc.
stock #AX-22-050
Wutong Mine, Liubao, Cangwu Co. Wuzoh Pref.
Guangxi Province, China
6.2 x 4.2 x 2.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $1650
new year 2021

A well-composed pink-red Rhodochrosite with both equant rhombohedral crystals and the flattened habit. In great undamaged condition, there are a few small Fluorites on the display face that are transparent light violet dodecahedral crystals. Very good luster for a Chinese Rhodo, this is a a wonderful esthetic specimen with a great visual pop in person.

Pyromorphite - modern classic
stock #20.1-598
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
3.3 x 2.8 x 1.6 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $340
new year 2021

Superb toenail Pyromorphite with outstanding rich color and luster. This piece is a flat plate like spray with no matrix, just bright green to yellow-green Pyro. Looks fine on either side. Excellent condition, all of the main crystals are fully perfect when examined with 10x magnification. The finds of this quality at the Daoping Mine have slowed to almost nothing what has been found recently has very dull color or is heavily altered.

Stibnite -radiating blades and clusters
stock #5.1-198
Nandan, Hechi Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
9.7 x 7.5 x 4.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $1250
new year 2021

About 12 years ago an amazing but small find of bladed Stibnite crystals (clusters, fans and flowerlike arrangements) was made in Nandan (China). The find was quickly exhausted and the mines are now all shut down. The habits are similar to an older find in Romania that is also long gone. On close examination these are clearly a bit different. This piece is in remarkable condition, aside from the outer edges it is undamaged. Displays well, the crystals have a bright metallic luster on the flat faces and a dark almost black look on the narrow edges. The blades reach 2.5 CM and are mostly free standing. This is a very choice display grade Stibnite from any place and an a super fine example of this discovery. We can ship this piece with special packaging which will involve a slightly higher cost.

Rhodochrosite with Apatite, Fluorite, and Pyrite
stock #13.1-026
Wutong Mine, Liubao, Cangwu Co. Wuzoh Pref.
Guangxi Province, China
5 x 4.9 x 3.1 CM (miniature)
price: $920
new year 2021

A flat habit rhombohedral crystal of Rhodochrosite sits aesthetically on matrix. Tiny purple Fluorite and Pyrite is also on the front face of the Rhodo adding some character. The matrix has clusters of elongated white Apatites (not visible in the photos) mostly on the backside. These are vividly fluorescent (yellow) in long wave. The condition is excellent and the Rhodo is partly transparent. Better color than is usually seen, this piece was from the earliest finds of Rhodochrosite at Wudong. I do not think any Apatites were found in the later pockets.

Pyromorphite
stock #20.1-287
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
4.7 x 3.2 x 1.7 CM (miniature)
price: $880

Elongated chain crystals in an intricate cluster showing exceptionally bright color and luster. The form and overall display esthetics clearly show why the Daoping mine is considered by many as the greatest Pyromorphite locality in the world. This piece displays super well from any angle and has a lot of visual impact. In fine condition as seen, this is almost a complete "floater" just a tiny contact on the base and on the back, the front side is flawless and shows beautifully the epitaxial alignment of the stacked crystals. A lot of good pyromorphite came from Daoping from 2000 to 2017, but top grade pieces have always been uncommon and desirable.
