Fluorite on Barite
Madoc, Centre Hastings, Hastings County
4.5 x 3.6 CM (miniature)
A very attractive miniature specimen with the main Flourite of 2 CM perched on top of a Barite matrix. Pristine on the display face but contacted on the back side, this is a very well formed Fluorite from an important Canadian location.
Xiayang, Yongchun County, Quanzhou Prefecture
3 x 2.8 x 1.7 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
A superb toenail sized Fluorite is very fine condition with amazing color. New find that has been making big news, very few of these are damage free or have such well defined faces all around. These have been called by some "Tanzanite" Fluorite due to the similar color and dramatic color change to deep purple under incandescent light. An outstanding small specimen with lots of display impact, choice and with color unlike any other Fluorite known worldwide!
Dravite- Classic locale
Gouverneur, St. Lawrence County
4.3 x 3.8 x 2.2 CM (miniature)
A stunning classic Dravite specimen with honey brown lustrous crystals nicely exposed on matrix. Ex Carter Rich and Bill Hladysz, this is in remarkable condition, with only contacts on the back and one side but no damage at all. These old Gouverneur specimens (St Lawrence County, NY) rarely have such sharp form, warm color and strong esthetics.
Wessels Mine, Hotazel, Northern Kalahari Mn Fields
Northern Cape Province,
3.2 x 2.5 x 1.4 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
A rich mass of bright purple Sugilite crystals showing color zoning and packed together in bands in matrix. Mostly all Sugilite, this is an older specimen from Wessels Mine that is quite different than more recent materials.
Anhydrite with Calcite
Naica Mine. Naica, Municipio de Saucillo
7.6 x 6.2 x 3.5 CM (cabinet)
Exceptional quality and esthetics, these blue Anyhydite crystals in the flat blade form are dusted with small sparkling Calcites. Older specimen from Naica, that produced some of the worlds best Anhydrite crystals, now quite uncommon on the market and very rare in this quality. Sharp undamaged terminations and baby-blue color. The tiny Calcites are mostly colorless transparent, doubly terminated scalenohedrons but some have dark unknown inclusions as well. Ex Hitchings collection, this in an early 1960 vintage piece. Naica is now flooded and seems it will not again be worked.
A fine old classic Freiburg Fluorite specimen ex. Yale and JH Marshall collections. The Fluorites are zoned with clear to deep purple colors and have rotated phantoms. Sharp corners and edges these are good condition despite some small bruising. Some old damage is on the Quartz some of which has rehealed, but this is overall quite fine and can be displayed (or trimmed) so damage is not noticable. Not typical of the majority of specimens we have seen, there are a few areas of crystallized Sulfides as well.
Super colorful multi-specie specimen from Tsumeb. In fine condition with excellent luster and sparkle throughout. The Calcite rhombs are dusted with micro crystals of Dioptase which gives a sugar cube texture but with emerald green color. Very good display impact in person.
Very showy cluster of orange to yellow Sphalerite crystals with complex forms. Minor Dolomite is also present but nearly all of this is Sphalerite. No damage and a choice example of this find from many years ago, the crystals reach 1.5 CM across. Very uncommon on the market today these were among the most attractive mineral specimens from Ontario at one time.
