Fluorite with Sphalerite
stock #AX-14B-009
Elmwood Mine, Carthage, Smith County
Tennessee, United States
10.2 x 8.6 x 3.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $360
Spring update

Classic Elmwood purple Fluorite on Sphalerite in a very three dimensional piece. Most cubes show good zoning as well with color from very deep purple to some pale violet nearing white. Some corner cleaves are here, but most all the cubes are complete and perfect. Due to the cubes being well above the matrix base most also pass light very well which makes a bright presentation. This looks like a much more expensive specimen but the cleaves keep it reasonable. Now that the mine is closed these are the last of Midwestern US Fluorites and are sadly missed in the mineral world.

Cerussite -Green and yellow crystals
stock #7.AE-415
Daoping Mine, Gongcheng County, Guilin Prefecture
Guangxi Province, China
7.8 x 5.3 x 3.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $750
Spring update

A cabinet sized specimen well crystalized on front and back with fine Cerussite. These crystals are green (likely caused by copper or Chrysocolla inclusions) and yellow (often called Chromian Cerussite). This is from a series of pockets found at the famed Daoping mine near Yangshao in 2004-5. Overall in fine condition, no damage seen by naked eye but a few micro dings can be seen with 10X magnification, and that only on outer edges. Since Cerussite is so delicate this peice is amazingly pristine. This sort of Cerussite has not been found for a few years, and now is being recognized as a significant find. There has been discussion (argument) as to weather or not to label these are Chromian Cerussites or Cuprian or nothing at all. It seems there have been differing results in analysis. As we await resolution we simply call this Cerussite.

Pyromorphite
stock #18.1-169
Resuperferolitica Mine, Santa Eufemia
Cordoba, Andalusia, Spain
8 x 6 cm (cabinet)
price: $675
Spring update

Ex. John Marshall collection, a very well crystallized Santa Eufemia Pyro with large individual crystals that exceed 1.6 CM. This is overall in excellent condition and is crystallized on 2 sides with large vugs filled with sprays and freestanding individual crystals. A super display piece from a very important locality.

Barite -window pane type
stock #18.1-170
Cerro Warihuyn - Miraflores, Huamalies Prov.
Ancash Department, Peru
7.8 x 4.7 x 4.5 CM (cabinet)
price: $450
Spring update

Transparent, sharp and lustrous Barites in rosette form on minimal matrix. Undamaged and with a light smoky color this has several excellent display angles with good impact. The digging at Cerro Warihuynan has been a major discovery of fine Barites. Even in the flood of good specimens, this piece is far better than typical, a very choice example with a price to quality value ratio that is hard to find these days.

Grossular v. Hessonite- large single XL, Classic
stock #17.1-035
Zulova, Jesenik, Olomouc Region
Moravia, Czech Republic
6.3 x 5.2 x 4.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
Spring update

A big, complete Garnet crystal with honey brown color from an uncommon locality, Zulova in the Moravian area of Czech Republic. This is quite exceptional for this old locale and the condition, size and quality are top. Some surface alterations are seen on faces with a deeper red color beneath. Matt luster overall but some faces have a glassy surface as well. All examples I know from this location are much smaller, darker and usually have considerable damage or wear. One old label is included.

Grossular -gemmy etched crystal cluster
stock #AX-24-267
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
3.4 x 2.6 x 1.8 CM (miniature)
price: $380
Spring update

A completely transparent cluster of Garnets that has no matrix and yet also has good isolation of the largest crystals. A relatively three dimensional specimen that has an unusual "etched" or melted look to several crystals. With strong magnification this is seen as complex modifications to edges and very fine striations that are not typical. An attractive and (in my experience) rare oddity that is also affordable. Internal clarity is near 100 clean facet grade gem.

Fluorite -Classic New York cube
stock #AX-16-200
Penfield Quarry, Penfield, Monroe County
New York, United States
3.2 x 2.2 x 3 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $650
Spring update

Sharp purple-blue cube of Penfield NY. Fluorite, with both glass clear and lightly frosted faces. A much sought after locality, these few Fluorites are highly prized. Totally transparent and in far above typical condition, this had been in the Francesco Spertini collection since the sixties. With magnification some interesting growth structures can be seen on faces and inside the cube. The display side is clean and damage free but the underside has a cleave and matrix contact. That underside can be seen through the clear crystal but is easily hidden as it is the obvious base or bottom of the crystal. A good value, these are typical very costly when available.

Epidote/ Clinozoisite on Calcite
stock #17.1-820
VAG Mine, Lowell & Eden
Vermont, United States
3.8 x 2.8 x 2.3 CM (small miniature/ large thumbnail (toenail))
price: $90
Spring update

Sharp translucent Epidote/ Clinozoisite crystals to 2.1 CM well exposed from Calcite matrix. The main crystals are damage free, well terminated and have very good luster. C nice example from a classic locale, not many matrix specimens of Epidote were recovered. Could trim to thumbnail size if desired.
