Aragonite -zoned crystals on matrix, Type locality
stock #18-AX-10-668
Molina de Aragon
Castile-la Mancha, Spain
4.5 x 3.6 x 2.3 CM (miniature)
price: $230
Spring 2020

Aragonite crystals with a violet core perched on matrix from the type locality in Aragon, Spain. Matrix crystals from this prolific locality are incredibly rare and the purple zones are the most desirable. The matrix is quite fragile which helps to explain why most specimens are single loose crystals. An older specimen from the Ara Dildilion collection with original label.

Fluorite on Quartz
stock #18-AX-18-019
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County, Chenzhou Pref.
Hunan Province, China
9.3 x 4.8 x 3 CM (cabinet)
price: $260
Spring 2020

An unusual etched gemmy cube of Fluorite is perched on a clean white crystalized Quartz matrix. Overall in fine condition as seen, the Fluorite has a hopper-like form with complex structure best seen in person or under magnification. A large amount of fine Fluorite has come from Yaoganxian over the years but this habit is very unusual. Strong blue color and high luster make this a nice choice.

SOLD Langbanite crystals with Fl. Rhodonite
stock #SOLD 066-JM-2935
Langban (Langbanshyttan)
Varmland, Sweden
8.4 x 6.2 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $0
Spring 2020

A complex specimen from the famed Langban locality with several species well represented. This features several large areas black Langbanite with some sharp crystals to several MM in size. Also nestled in a shallow vug are blocky crystals of pink Rhodonite that are vividly Fluorescent. Most Rhodonite worldwide is not at all fluorescent but this has intense red to orange red response in long wave. This Langbanite is of course from the type locality, it is a quite rare Manganese Silicate specie and not very often available. Ex John Marshall collection, his label is included.

Almandine in schist
stock #20.1-173
Stikine River, Wrangell Island, Wrangell-Petersburg Borough
Alaska, United States
8.4 x 5.3 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $790
Spring 2020

A large and crisp Garnet is well exposed on the Schist matrix. The crystal is in fine condition, it has the typical slightly rounded edges and faces but excellent color and quality. The crystal is 2.7 CM across, large for the locality. Close exam shows the more complex growth faces and structures on the larger faces. A modern USA classic locale, the Stikene River (Alaska) had in the past produced many impressive garnets. It has been known since the 1860's and was commercially mined starting in 1907 until the 1930's by an all woman corporation, a first. Today this continues to be an accessible locality that has been set aside for children to collect. However as no power tools are permitted the production is not like it was many years ago and specimens of this quality are almost never seen.

stock #19.1-510
Sinerechenskoe Skarn,
Primorsky Kray, Far Eastern Region, Russia
6.9 x 4.1 x 2.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $120
Spring 2020

Dark but gemmy Andradite Garnets well exposed on the matrix. The color is a dark red but with strong lighting an oil green to yellow color is seen on some crystals. This locality is well known for the great Quartz crystals often included by Hedenbergite, but the Garnets are also quite choice. These are arranged in both tight clusters and also more isolated. In person the luster is excellent, bright and glassy. Some small rough edges and contacts but overall in very nice condition.

SOLD Arsenopyrite - exceptional iridescent crystals
stock #SOLD 20.1-096
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County, Chenzhou Pref.
Hunan Province, China
5.1 x 4.1 x 3.3 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $0
Spring 2020

Simply extraordinary, a killer Arsenopyrite cluster of sawtooth edged crystals with the very best Iridescence I have ever seen on the specie. From Yaogangxian, this has several small crystals of Fluorite, Quartz Muscovite etc) as is typical at this locality. What is not typical is the brilliant patina on this specimen. A vivid rainbow of colors, this is super in person. I have seen only a few other iridescent Arsenopyrites but never present on more than a few faces and much less brilliant. This specimen is in exceptional condition, undamaged and displayable from any side a rare 360 degree piece. The Arsenopyrite crystals are very sharp and clustered in stacks and epitaxial arrangements. From a small find in late 2018

Stibnite -delicate
stock #20.1-178
Xikuangshan Sb Deposit, Lengshuijiang Co., Loudi Pref.
Hunan Province, China
6.4 x 4.8 x 3.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $250
Spring 2020

Slender bright metallic crystals of Stibnite radiating in interlocking clusters with no matrix. This habit was from a major find in 2009 at Xikhuahshan, and shows well the "fractal" or multi-generational crystalization. On this piece the main radiating sprays are the base for much smaller needle crystals some of which are the base for even smaller crystals. The crystals have a bright metallic luster on several sides, and the specimen display well from many angles. This form at first glance may look a bit like some of the old Stibnite finds in Felsobanya, Romania, but a closer look shows that this is a unique habit, different from any others we have seen. Despite the delicacy his can be shipped safely but is not recommended for export due to the potential for customs inspections which is not usually as gentle as we would like.

SOLD Analcime with Calcite
stock #SOLD 20.1-167
Wasson's Bluff
Nova Scotia, Canada
7.2 x 5.1 x 3.4 CM (cabinet)

Sharp Analcime crystals nestled in a vug with some very tiny Calcite crystals and a few hairs of Mesolite. A 1970 era specimen from the well-known Watson's Bluff (Nova Scotia) The larger Analcime crystals have some internal color zoning but mostly are a milky white. In excellent condition and a nice, clean example. Collected from a ledge pocket by Less Hitchings, the best specimen found that day. The coastal Basalts of this region have been a mecca for mineral collectors for decades.
