Quartz (green) on Dolomite crystals
stock #8.1-110
Shangbao Pyrite Mine, Leiyang
Hunan Province, China
11.7 x 8.8 x 4.5 cm (cabinet)
price: $3600
new year 2021

A killer quartz "tree" or tangled shrub of slender Quartz crystals with a mint-green color perched on a matrix of large Dolomite crystals. Mined in 2006 at the famed Shangbao Mine, this is a really distinctive display piece. Many of the Quartz are doubly terminated and the condition overall is excellent. Shangbao is justly famous for some of the best Fluorites in the world. However, there were also a few finds over the years of highly esthetic and often odd Quartz. A unique piece that mixes fine quality, good size and display impact.

Dioptase - type locality
stock #8-FE-688
Altyn-Tyube, Kirghiz Steppes
Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan
5.8 x 4.1 3.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $460
new year 2021

Like green eggs in a nest, a pair of very well-exposed Dioptase crystals from the classic Altyn-Tyube Mine. This is the type locality for the specie. The crystals are complete, well-formed, doubly terminated and undamaged. The overall esthetics are super for the locality and at 1.3 cm these are bigger than average.

Galena, Chalcopyrite, Quartz and Sphalerite
stock #9.1-345
September 9th Mine, Madan Ore field, Rhodope Mts.
Smolyan Oblast, Bulgaria
8.2 x 5.8 x 4.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $390
new year 2021

Geometrically aligned Galena crystals dominate this complex multi-specie piece from the famed Madan area. We have been awed by the diversity and quality of Galenas and Sphalerites from Madan, which is probably the world's best source for these. Every few years a new habit or style is found. This was mined in 2009, it is in perfect, undamaged condition. The Galena Luster is dull metallic which is contrasted by the bright Sphalerite and Chalcopyrite. It is easy to understand why some collectors love Sulfides and especially Galenas.

Barite (Baryte)
stock #20.1-297
Mefis, Taouz, Errachidia Province
Draa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
4.3 x 3.3 x 1.2 CM (miniature)
price: $90
new year 2021

Glassy and transparent, a thick tabular habit Barite with inclusions. This find a few years ago produced some large crystals that were mostly milky and somewhat crude. We obtained a few that were more sharp, defined and clear though smaller than average from the find. These sold quickly but we have this piece back via a collection purchase. This is one of the best.

Barite (Baryte) - gemmy crystals
stock #0261-JM-4064
Jinkouhe town, Ebian
Sichuan Province, China
8.8 x 6.9 x 4.4 CM (cabinet)
price: $690
new year 2021

Super bright Barite crystals from Jinkouhe Ex. John Marshall collection. John obtained this in 2003 when the first and best finds had just been made. In incredible condition, no damage seen by naked eye but with magnification some very small edge scuff are found, really close to perfect. The crystals are all transparent with a nice bright color, most have cloud-like inclusions as phantoms in some. Previous labels and collection card are included. I have seen nothing like this from China for a long time.
