Grossular - Gem crystals on Pectolite
stock #AX-32-066
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos (now Val-des-Sources, Estrie,
Quebec, Canada
4.3 x 2.5 x 2.3 CM (miniature)
price: $3300

Over several decades many fine Grossular have come from the Jeffrey Mine, but very few are truly gem crystals. This is an exceptionally fine and rare specimen with outstanding clarity, especially vivid color and top luster. The matrix is also much less common, a mass of Pectolite crystals that adds a contrast in texture and color. The Garnets are clear enough to see through to the matrix below. We have worked with many fine Jeffrey Garnets but very few of this quality ever. This is not at all typical of the deposit and is better in person as well. In excellent condition as seen with only some small internal cleaves not visible from most angles. Those would be fully invisible if this was not such a gem clear specimen. A excellent Garnet from anyplace and very fine for the Jeffrey Mine.

Wulfenite with Duftite, Conichalcite and Mottramite
stock #21.1-474
Tsumeb
Otjikoto Region, Namibia
7.6 x 5.8 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $860

Striking, colorful and complex specimen with well-defined Wulfenite crystals that are partly to fully overgrown with bright green secondary copper minerals. In fine condition as seen, the largest Wulfenites are over 1.5 CM with a butterscotch orange color. Tsumeb is famed for its great specimens with diverse species, habits, colors and chemistries. The results are sometimes especially attractive like this. The associations here are especially impressive.

Pyromorphite - important, historic
stock #1023-JM-553
Berezovsk Mine, Ekaterinburg, Sverdlovskaya Oblast, Middle Urals
Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia
8.2 x 7.3 x 4.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $2200
Pre Tucson

From the Harvard Museum collection then by trade (1977) to John Marshall, this is a very old specimen originally in the Leibener collection. Exceptional size and quality for this famous Siberian Urals locality where mining began in 1747. Although this was a gold mining area there were many other minerals found there, it is the type locality for 7 species one of which (Crocoite) led to the discovery of the element Chromium. This is an extraordinary rich and significant Pyro specimen from this classic locality, it may be the best extant outside of a major museum. Typical specimens are usually just druzy crusts and association pieces. The Pyromorphite here is deep forest green with the main crystalized mass of 6x5 CM. Individual prisms are up to 6 mm in size though most are under 4mm. In remarkably good condition, no obvious naked eye visible damage but magnification does show several small broken and chipped crystals. Despite this it is still a good display quality specimen and would be a fine addition to any serious Pyromorphite suite or Russian collection.

Wulfenite on Cerussite
stock #RP 20-FC-059-(9164)
MFouati Mine, Bouenza Department
Bouenza Department, Republic of Congo (Brazzaville)
4.8 x 3.8 x 3.4 CM (miniature)
price: $2850
Pre Tucson

The new finds of Wulfenites of M'Fouati have been huge news in the mineral world. The association with Cerussite and the remarkable etching of the blocky habits is unlike any others ever found. This specimen has superb esthetics all around and is in perfect condition. The Wulfenite has intense color with glassy luster on some faces and many geometrically etched patterns on other faces. The Cerussite is complete, undamaged on all sides with just a small contacted area on the underside. These Cerussites are twinned in multiple ways and some are also etched on selective faces. There were not many specimens of this top caliber found, these few killers are instant classics.

Topaz - classic Russian, on Feldspar, Quartz
stock #ARET 16.1-597
Murzinka Mine,Sarapulka Dist., Sverdlovskaya Oblast, Middle Urals
Urals Region, Russia
5.4 x 3.2 x 3 CM (small cabinet/large miniature)
price: $560
Pre Tucson

A 2.5 CM tall gem clear colorless Topaz crystal rises above the contrasting Matrix. The Topaz is undamaged, in impeccable condition, the matrix has some bruising but it is the matrix and not at all a detriment. A very nice composition over all, good Topaz from the Urals is something of a mineralogical prize and highly respected by collectors. A very good value for the quality and esthetics.

Beryl var. Emerald
stock #ARET 8.2-387
Coscuez Mine
Boyaca, Colombia
6.2 x 4.8 CM (small cabinet/ large miniature)
price: $3400
Pre Tucson

Classic Colombian Emerald crystal on matrix. Excellent transparency, the crystal is fairly thick, glassy with basal termination. The color is a very rich green but not quite the top intense color which is of course far more expensive. Sits well and stands out in any sort of display. It is very hard to find sizable crystals on matrix that have not been repaired, faked or otherwise unnatural. This one is fully natural and not enhanced. The crystal is 2.2 x 1.7 CM and is nicely balanced on the matrix. Good condition, there are micro edge chips seen with loupe but no really bad damage, the "bottom end" of the crystal is contacted and does not show a clear termination. This quality is now very hard to get in Colombia at any reasonable price if at all. If this was mined today this would be treated, infused, cut and sold in the gem market. It would also be a lot more expensive!

Fluorite - 2 intergrown spinel twins
stock #23.1-222
Hohenstein Massif, Omaruru District
Erongo Region, Namibia
4.6 x 3.3 x 2.1 CM (miniature)
price: $1950
Pre Tucson

A most unusual intersection of two complete spinel habit twins of Fluorite. In outstanding condition, the crystals are all translucent and mostly transparent. Aside from a few tiny bits of Muscovite there is nothing other than Fluorite here, no matrix. The color is zoned with a light purple predominating but the outer edges are a deep purple and the core has some yellow to orange lines. This area of the Erongos has been the source of several great Fluorite finds. Each find has been somewhat unique and many habits were never seen again as in the famed Alien Eyes of 2007. This is from an incredible 2021-2 find of very distinctive spinel twins. Great in person and in a display with backlighting this is amazing.

Brochantite enclosing Galena with Fluorite and Quartz
stock #19.1-897
Blanchard Mine, Bingham, Hansonburg District, Socorro County
New Mexico, United States
4.2 x 2.9 x 3.3 CM (miniature)
price: $1200
Pre Tucson

This is an exceptional and very unusual Brochantite from the famed Blanchard Mine. Two cubes of Galena are partly altered to Anglesite (small sparkling clear crystals on all faces) which is a fairly common thing at Blanchard. What is far more rare however is those faces are also overgrown with acicular Brochantite. The resulting green cubes (up to 1.8 CM across) contrast well with the Quartz and Fluorite matrix. We have seen Blanchard Galenas overgrown with Linarite making nice blue cubes but never green Brochantite cubes. A super distinctive specimen. Linarite and Brochantite often occur together at the Blanchard, however on this piece there is no hint of Linarite. A very attractive and important association / pseudomorph from this great USA locality. In excellent condition as seen, this piece is older, pre 1975.
