Grossular on Diopside
stock #AX-32-047
Eden Mills Quarries, Lowell & Eden
Vermont, United States
4.1 x 3.4 x 3.3 CM (miniature)
price: $1950
Post Tucson 2015

A superb gem Grossular Garnet from the legendary "Eden Mills" (Belvedere-Lowell) locale. Top color and clarity, this specimen hosts several brilliant Grossular with the rich deep red color that is so highly sought after. This could be trimmed to fine competitive thumbnail but to me it is fine as is. This level of quality was never common when the mine was working, these are now almost impossible to find. The largest garnet is 1.2 CM across and is pristine. Other gem garnets on the specimen have inclusions or contacts from Diopside crystals that form most of the matrix. A very fine and choice specimen that is far more eye-catching than its size suggests.

Elbaite -slightly curved crystal
stock #AX-19-100
Barra do Salinas Mining District, Coronel Murta
Minas Gerais, Brazil
7.2 x 2.2 x 1.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $325
Post Tucson 2015

A darker bottle green Tourmaline with a subtle curve, color gradation and complete termination. 34.5 Grams in heft, there is an area of fibrous (cat's eye) crystal in the curve zone where this crystal has had some natural breaks and rehealing. There is one repair at that point as well. A good, sizable, affordable crystal from a famed locale in good condition as seen.

Elbaite v. Indicolite
stock #AX-19-319
Pederneira Mine, Sao Jose da Safira, Doce Valley
Minas Gerais, Brazil
3.8 x .5 x .5 CM (miniature)
price: $325
Post Tucson 2015

Blue color zoned gem Tourmaline in perfect condition and with fine luster. The body of this is a darker blue that needs backlighting to show up well, the tip is a very transparent light blue that grades darker along the crystal. A very nice "steel blue" crystal from the famed Pederneira claim, these are modern classics and not very common at not stratospheric prices.

Fluorite - zoned
stock #14.1-283
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County, Chenzhou Pref.
Hunan Province, China
9 x 8.1 x 5.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $1250
Post Tucson 2015

Outstanding deep grape purple color in large gem-clear phantom crystals. The contrasting greenish Muscovite matrix presents the Fluorites as very three dimensional. The crystals reach over 4.4 CM which is very large for this type, but they still have fine color. In exceptional, undamaged condition, this is a strong, eye-catching display piece. Nothing of this quality has come from Yaogangxian for a few years, these are now considered modern classics and make a fine esthetic addition to any good Fluorite or Chinese suite.

HOLD Fluorite on Schorl
stock #HOLD AX-14-159
Erongo Mountain, Karibib
Erongo Region, Namibia
7.3 x 5.3 x 5.1 CM (cabinet)
price: $900
Post Tucson 2015

A wonderful sculpture of well-formed crystals in fine condition. An excellent Erongo specimen that looks great on all sides. The Fluorites are zoned, complex translucent to transparent purple crystals. The Schorl is very lustrous and shows several types of terminations. A sprinkling of tiny Quartz crystals adds the final touch. A very good value for the quality.

Chalcocite
stock #AX-19-108
Flambeau Mine, Ladysmith, Rusk County
Wisconsin, United States
4.4 x 2.4 x 2 CM (miniature)
price: $480
Post Tucson 2015

A stacked cluster of sharp, well-formed, slightly iridescent crystals from the famed Flambeau mine. In fine condition, the largest crystals are about 1.5 cm across and show the twinned pseudo hexagonal habit with pyramid terminations. Classic "soot" black with metallic edges in a very distinctive form.

Benitoite
stock #15.1-292
San Benito Peak, San Benito County
California, United States
8 x 4.9 x 2.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $440
Post Tucson 2015

An array of zoned blue Benitoite crystals on contrasting white Natrolite. Classic material from this famed locale with crystals to 2 CM size. Some chipping on crystals as seen in the photos, a relatively affordable piece with a pleasing arrangement on the matrix.

SOLD Bournonite - classic Cornish
stock #SOLD 13.1-248
Herodsfoot Mine, Lanreath, Liskard District
Cornwall, England
3.9 x 3.1 x 2.1 CM (miniature)
price: $0
Post Tucson 2015

A nicely crystallized cluster of cogs-wheel form Bournonite from the famed Herodsfoot Mine. An old specimen (pre 1950 but likely far older), the color is a dark "gunmetal" metallic black. The crystals have several habits and reach 1.6 .cm There is damage on the edges and minor chipping but the central area of this is in good condition. Overall nice specimen of this delicate mineral from this old classic Cornish locale.
