Agoudal Mine, Bou Azzer
Souss-Massa-Draa region, Ouarzazate Province, Tazenakht,
Morocco
6 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $950
Spring 2013
A especially choice piece from the best find of Cobaltoan Calcites in Morocco in almost 20 years! This is a striking, fine and really well-formed "flower". Composed of scalenohedral and hoppered scalenohedral crystals up to 2 CM long this has an electric intense pink color that is easily noticed in any lighting. A great impact specimen, it reminds me of a N'chwaning Rhodochrosite but with a cobaltian color. In very good condition overall, the only notable damage is at the outer edges, the main central crystals are excellent.
Apophyllite with Natrolite on Albite
stock #AX-10-1044
Das Antas Tunnel
Rio Grande do Sul, South Region,
Brazil
7.7 x 6.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $180
Spring 2013
A very nice Brazilian specimen from the find of the late 1960's at the Dos Antas tunnel. At that time these were big news in the mineral world and many considered these to be the worlds best green Apophyllites. They are notably different from anything that came out later in great floods from India. This is an esthetic, undamaged example from a somewhat obscure locality. A nice addition for any Zeolite or Brazilian collection.
Roselite (well-crystallized)
stock #12.1-251
Bou Azzer District, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate Province
Souss- Massa- Draa Region,
Morocco
6.8 x 4.6 x 5 Cm (cabinet)
price: $875
Spring 2013
An especially "electric" colorful specimen with large well defined crystals and outstanding luster. The matrix is a block of pinkish dolomite/ calcite with some of the altered serpentine country rock adhering. The Roselites are in a shallow depression and contrast well with the host matrix. Very striking specimen with great impact. Bou Azzer Roselites are by far the best ever found and this is a quite fine example.
A dense cluster of shining crystals with some mixed sulphides sits on a crystallized calcite matrix. Color is fairly dark but good light on some areas picks up the expected red colors of the Pyrargyrite. The Calcites also have red inclusions that may be ruby silver too. Largest xls are about 4-5mm, many are damage free. The loupe also finds one very small elongated red crystal near the bottom that looks more like a Proustite. A good European classic location piece.
Cuprian Adamite
stock #AX-9-097
Kamareza, Lavrion Mines,
Attiki Prefecture Laurion District,
Greece
9.1 x 4.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $350
Spring 2013
From one of the earth's oldest mineral localities this is a pretty, bright color densely crystallized plate of Cuprian Adamite. In outstanding condition, this thin plate hosts hundreds of perfect crystals. With 10x magification I can find only 2 tiny bumps. A classic locality piece with top color.
Legrandite
stock #AX-12-500
Mina Ojuela, Mapimi
Durango,
Mexico
4.5 x 3.4 CM (miniature)
price: $480
Spring 2013
One of the most desirable rare minerals from Ojuela, Legrandite well displayed in a radiating burst of distinctive yellow. This is filling a shallow pocket in the gossan matrix,2.8 CM across. Several prismatic crystals are complete here but there are several broken ones too (Legrandite is especially brittle and and there are almost no specimens of any size without some damage). Despite the damage this is still well above average. None has been found for over 20 years now, this is an early piece last sold in the 1970s.
Impressive and a Northeastern US classic! Sharp, clear and bright gemmy Datolites up to 2.4 CM with selective faces colored a nice cognac hue sit on a contrasting green Prehnite. As esthetic as you can find, the main crystals are in perfect condition but non detracting damage is noted on a few smaller crystals and at the edges. Despite this it displays very well and is a striking specimen from this old locale.
From an old small find of these exotic, tapered habit gem Beryls, this is a very nice, clean example. Excellent condition, with great texture, color and form, this is not a typical Beryl at all! Ex Larry White collection.
