Langite
stock #20.1-755
Podilpa Deposit, Lubietova, Banska Bystrica District
Banska Bystrica Region, Slovakia
6.8 x 3.8 x 2 CM (cabinet)
price: $390

A rich and vivid specimen of Langite covered with small but vivid crystals. Unusually well covered and of fine display quality, this comes from the Podilpa deposit of Slovakia and is very fine for this old locality. We understand this came from a small find made in 2007-8 which made big news at the time with excellent specimens of this rather rare Copper Sulfide. The color intensity on this is far better than most.

Pseudomalachite (classic Ehlite)
stock #23.1-712
Lubietova, Slovenske Rudohorie Mts,
Banska Bystrica Region, Slovakia
7.7 x 5.7 x 4.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $320
Pre Tucson

Rich and fine vintage specimen (with antique labels) of Pseudomalachite from the era when it was called Ehlite. This and several others were thought to be all different species, but all are classified to be Pseudomalachite now. This piece is from the original mine at Lubetova (Slovakia) the Quartz matrix is almost complete covered on all sides with botryoidal green masses. Pseudomalachite is Phosphate Copper Carbonate, and quite uncommon in comparison to simple Copper Carbonate (Malachite). Specimens from this locality were the first described as a discrete specie in 1812, though an earlier analysis without description of specimens from Germany cause that location to be listed as the type locale. Rich color and coverage, the luster looks polished in a few spots but is fully natural.

Libethenite - unusual rosette habit from type locality
stock #15.1-715
Lubietova, Slovenske Rudohorie Mts,
Banska Bystrica Region, Slovakia
6 x 4.8 x 3.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $350
new year 2021

An excellent very old Libethenite from the type locality with well-formed rosette structures. This habit is quite rare from Lubietova (originally Libethen) and these are sizable up to 5 mm which is large for any locale. From the collection of Dr Warren Johannson, his label notes he obtained it in a trade with Amherst College in 1982. The rosettes are in very good condition having been protected in a vug.

Euchroite - well-crystallized, type locality
stock #17.1-715
Lubietova, Slovenske Rudohorie Mts,
Banska Bystrica Region, Slovakia
1.6 x 1.5 x .8 CM (thumbnail)
price: $300
new year 2021

Super crystals of the rare Copper Arsenate Euchorite from the type locality. The color and form are especially nice on this thumbnail, there is a slight translucence and classic waxy luster. Examination with good magnification finds a few tiny rough spots and the backside is incomplete, but by naked eye the condition is excellent. Though not perfect the quality for this rare specie is still very fine and not often available. A slightly bent or curved aspect to some faces is noted as was often the case in the larger crystals in the type locality. These crystals are very large for the locality and for the specie. An older specimen, Ex Rejl collection.

Pseudomalachite
stock #19.1-406
Lubietova, Slovenske Rudohorie Mts,
Banska Bystrica Region, Slovakia
9 x 7.7 x 4.6 CM (cabinet)
price: $480

Large and superb, rich old specimen of Pseudomalachite from the ancient mining area of Lubitova. This locality was called Libethen by the Germans and Libetbanya by the Hungarians, but is now in Slovakia, and is Lubitova. Mined since the Bronze age and closed in 1863, this is one of the great locales of Europe and this specimen is an outstanding Pseudomalachite which has formed on and arround a gossan type matrix. In addition to the large botryoidal green masses there are hundreds of tiny spheres and a few stalactitic fingers in a dense mass of deep green. Very fine piece for the specie and for the locality.

Langite
stock #16.1-1282
Spania Dolina, Banska Bystrica County
Banska Bystrica Region, Slovakia
12.2 x 9.1 x 5.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $360
Worldwide mix summer

Incredibly rich, a large old Langite specimen with a fine blue-green color that is quite intense. This secondary copper Sulphate specie is a dimorph of Wroewolfeite and can be confused with it or Posnackite. While Langite is found as micros at many localities, the best and largest specimens are mostly from old Slovakian mines. The matrix here has at least some Langite on every side, but the 3 main faces have the best coverage and most distinct crystals. This could easily be made in to several very good specimens but we like the large size for impact. Formerly in the Vrzal collection in Brno, Czech Republic.
