A fine and sizable classic Yaogangxian Fluorite. From a find in 2005, deep purple cubes of Fluorite are filled with silver needles of Boulangerite, some of which protrude from the faces. The cubes are up to 4.3 CM lustrous and quite sharp. The mass of fine crystals inside the cubes gives a blue to grey color in some areas, other parts are more vibrant purple. From the great Yaoganxian Mine, this is the world’s best locality for Boulangerite in Fluorite. This is far better and more esthetic than most, this quality has not been seen in recent finds. Displays an unusually rich inclusion density with a contrasting silvery matrix of nearly pure Arsenopyrite crystals.
Hubnerite with Fluorite and Quartz

Hunan Province,
China
5.6 x 5.3 x 2.8 CM (cabinet)
price: $440
Very lustrous sharp Hubnerite crystals with good red highlights set on Quartz with purple Fluorites. A choice multi-specie specimen from the great Yaogangxian Mine. Hubnerite is much more rare from here than the similar Ferberite, and this is a well above average example of the specie. In excellent condition as seen, the crystals are nicely offset by the purple Fluorites, milky Quartz and with a dusting of Pyrite. Displays well, an excellent addition to a Yaogangxian suite or for a Chinese collection.

Pre Tucson
A well-formed Wurtzite crystal cluster on a complex multi-specie specimen from the amazing Yaogangxian Mine. The specimen has several Quartz crystals that are partly coated with Muscovite and sprinkled with metallic hairlike crystals of Bismuthinite. The Wurtzite is mostly seen in a 2.2 CM diameter cluster of stacked brown-red crystals that have a bright luster. In some photos these look silvery metallic due to the reflections on the surface but in hand the color is typical dark brown to almost black. Wurtzite from Yaoganxian is a very rare specie, this is the largest and best we have seen and is exceptional for the locality.

Spring 23
Stalactite of translucent Fluorite composed of small stepped crystals in stacked clusters. An early and very odd Fluorite from Yaogangxian, certainly a special and maybe unique piece. We have never seen another quite like this despite decades of experience with Yaogangxian. A few years ago there were some other type Stalactites recovered from a single pocket but they were composed of large crystal chains and a different habit altogether. Near the bottom of this piece there seems to be a repair on a crack. The rest of the piece is in perfect condition and for a perfectionist the repair could easily be unglued leaving an unrepaired, pristine (though slightly smaller) piece. A fine addition to any world-wide Fluorite suite or Chinese collection.

New Year 22
An uncommon and attractive Yaogangxian specimen. Lustrous iridescent Chalcopyrite covers most of a stack of flat hexagonal crystals of Pyrrhotite. Only on a few edges are the original golden metallic Pyrrhotite crystals visible. In excellent condition, what may look like bruising on some edges is actually perfect and sharp. The multicolor patina on the Chalcopyrite is bright and sparkling which is both esthetic and very different for this famed locality. Individual Pyrrhotite hexagons are up to 5 CM across yet are unusually thin at just 2-3 mm on average. A choice Chinese Sulfide!

Early summer 2021
Large and lustrous, the Arsenopyrite crystals here have a golden patina on the broad faces and a bright silvery color on the narrow faces. The golden faces have a color play in the patina and are especially attractive. The facing side of the specimen is in great condition. Part of the sides have contacts and there are saw marks on the back as well. None of those distractions are visible in a normal display. This presents deep striations and classic habit, the bigger crystals are over 4 CM and very clearly defined. Tiny bits of Quartz and Fluorite are also present. An older specimen (2008) from the great Yaogangxian.

new year 2021
A dark purple cluster of Fluorite cubes with slightly rounded faces that are thickly packed with masses of Boulangerite hairs. In many places the Boulangerite is protruding from the Fluorite making complex nests of metallic wire-like crystals. The specimen is an older (2004) vintage piece from Yaogangxian and is a super example of this association. The Fluorite is transparent to translucent and with magnification the Boulangerite inside the crystals is seen as straight hairs, curved wires and coiled spirals, loops and rings. This find of included Fluorite was remarkable and this specimen is a superb, large example. The specimen is a mix of larger cubes up to 2.5 CM to masses of tiny curved cubes in clusters.

A very fine Scheelite from the famed Yaogangxian Mine, ex Charles M. Noll collection. The Scheelite is very sharp and glassy, very large for this locality, and has a color that looks like a brown stout or root beer hue in reflected light. When backlit with a strong light source the color is more reddish-purple. Transparent on the edges but translucent overall the Calcite adds a very nice accent. The bottom of the piece is broken where it was attached but some of that area is recrystallized. Fine luster and great striations on the glassy faces help set this piece apart. From the "golden years" at Yaogangxian this is really fine for the locale and a choice dark Scheelite from any place.
