The Peridot crystals of Sappat are modern classics. This is a good thumbnail with a pair of chisel-tip crystals standing above the Peridot matrix. Some faces of these crystals are somewhat transparent while other faces are silky and less clear. Typical "melted" look on some edges and chipping noted on the base and backside, this is otherwise a clean and a very affordable gem crystal.

Thumbnail of Peridot crystals in a cluster from the great deposits of Pakistan. The crystals are typically etched on some faces and have good translucently. The whole piece is almost all Peridot with no matrix and looks good from several angles.

Late Summer 2021
Deep green glassy gem crystals of Forsterite in a well-composed cluster with no matrix. This is in excellent condition, a hefty 57 grams and looks fine from every side. The only broken spot is on the bottom where this was removed, this is a 360 degree display piece. Especially esthetic, this specimen has the desirable architecture sought in a fine Peridot. The crystal faces have complex striations and etching with slightly rounded edges as is typical from this locale. Sapat Gali is famed as perhaps the very best locality today for Peridot, this is a true modern classic.

Spring 2019
Three chisel tip Peridot crystals in a line like mountain peaks. A choice older specimen with fine color and transparency. With any backlight this will really glow. Nearly all good cutting grade, there are virtually no inclusions to be seen. Some minor bruises can be seen but they are very minor, and the naturally frosted faces soften them even more. This is unusually well formed and sizable for a Sopat Peridot which are often very degraded or damaged. Far better in person, a very good value.
