Hemimorphite - old classic Mexican
stock #21.1-555
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua,
Mexico
8.8 x 5.4 x 5.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $2400
New Year 22
A killer Hemimorphite from the late 1960's vintage find with unusually large phantom crystals. In excellent, undamaged condition, even the tiny crystals seem to be perfect, glassy and sharply terminated. The largest crystal spray is over 4.9 CM tall and is well-isolated. The main crystals have a slightly yellow color at the top, the body is white and the base has a dark brown to black phantom. Looks fine from any orientation, this is totally unlike the vast majority of Mexican Hemimorphite. In person the luster is brighter than the photos show, a real killer, the more recent finds from Santa Eulalia and and Mina Ojuela are very different, this sort is almost never available. Outstanding for the major crystals of Hemimophite.
Calcite on Hemimorphite
stock #AX-12-178
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua,
Mexico
11.6 x 2.3 x 2.3 CM (cabinet)
price: $1100
Early summer 2021
A most unusual form and combination. This transparent to translucent Calcite crystal is gemmy and twinned. It is perched on a finger-like shaft, covered with hundred of tiny Hemimorphite blades and also small Calcite crystals. The association and form of this structure is very odd; this was found in the 1970's. The Calcite is complete except for a cleave on the back left side that is not seen on display. Due to that cleave this is not a specimen for the ultra perfectionists, but is incredible for the locality and a very choice display piece presenting an exotic form.
Calcite - Hematite included
stock #13.1-199
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua,
Mexico
12.8 x 7.4 x 2.7 CM (cabinet)
price: $220
Early summer 2021
Glassy, clear Calcite crystals in excellent condition are partially included by red Hematite. These were found some years ago at Santa Eulalia, the crystals are transparent to translucent and the Hematite inclusions are cloud-like zones inside. No visible damage, this is a choice Mexican specimen that is similar to very fine specimen of the famed English classics, but far more affordable. Better in person too.
Pyrrhotite
stock #13.1-395
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua,
Mexico
5.5 x 3.7 x 3.2 CM (cabinet)
price: $190
new year 2021
A stack of aligned Pyrrhotite crystals with an unusual dull golden luster. These crystals have signs of some alteration and micro voids forming along striations, but the whole specimen is very solid and sculptural. An older specimen from Santa Eulalia these are quite different from the usual Dalnegorsk pieces.
Rhodochrosite with Fluorite and Goethite
stock #16.1-498-(CN543)
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua,
Mexico
7.8 x 5.8 x 4 CM (cabinet)
price: $280
new year 2021
Small bright red transparent Rhodochrosite crystals scattered in an open vug on a dark matrix. The Rhodochrosites are perched on tiny fingers and knobs of Goethite with a few small crystals of pale colored Fluorite making a nice addition. Minimal damage, the specimen displays well; it could also be trimmed to a miniature size but we like it just like this. Ex Charles M Noll collection, his label is also included.
Rhodochrosite with Calcite etc.
stock #19.1-446
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua,
Mexico
3.2 x 2.3 x 1.8 CM (thumbnail)
price: $120
A neat thumbnail of interlocked rhombs of Rhodochrosite with tiny calcites on some edges. The crystals are complete and in undamaged condition. This is a nice example of the HQLP (High Quality, Low Price) concept. Santa Eulalia over many years produced Rhodochrosite in small finds and unique pockets of many different habits, forms and styles. Perhaps the most diverse Rhodo locale in the world, Santa Eulalia is remarkable and continues to yield small finds of surprising quality.
Calcite - intense red
stock #19.1-281-(6035)
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua,
Mexico
9.7 x 5.7 x 3.1 (cabinet)
price: $800
A stunning piece from the collection of Rock Currier, his label number 6035 is included. The fingers of Calcite reach up to 5 CM and host many hundred of transparent crystals that are included with intense red Hematite. The glittering effect is really impressive in person and this is a superb Santa Eulalia specimen with great visual impact. In fine condition as seen, the red fingers contrast with the colorless Calcite of the matrix. With magnification the Calcite are seen to be in several habits and many have red phantoms inside. A few later generation colorless Calcite twins are perched on the red crystals adding a nice accent.
An excellent addition to any good Mexican suite or Calcite collection. A well chosen pieces, these do not get any more colorful than this.
Ludlamite - fan crystals
stock #15.1-852
Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan
Chihuahua,
Mexico
4.7 x 4.1 x 3.1 CM (miniature)
price: $850
Late Summer 2018
A rare miniature sized and very fine Ludlamite from the classic locale of Santa Eulalia. Excellent color, condition and with the desirable fan aggregates of crystals standing above the matrix. Most of what is seen from Santa Eulalia are thumbnails (which can be superb) but those too are very uncommon, they were found before 1985. This is a very large (miniature) specimen with fine form, luster and presentation. Between Santa Eulalia and the later Bolivian Ludlamite finds, these are the worlds best for the specie. Many of the Ludlamites from both locales have a rather unstable Sulphide matrix. This one seems to be very solid, stable with no rotting pyrite or other issues.
